Century Media Those who already are familiar with Lullacry will know what to expect from Vol. 4. Unlike other female fronted bands they may be associated with (especially from their homeland of Finland), Lullacry have no gothic overtones at all, only straight forward rock tunes injected with a near lethal dose of catchiness. Thats one thing you simply can't take away from the band: these songs will stay in your head long after the disc has stopped. The sound this time around is a bit heavier than on Crucify My Heart, the guitars have more bite to them. Most of the songs benefit from this, King Of Pain, Killing Time, Zero and Fire Within being just a few examples. Vocalist Tanja sounds alot more "girly-girl" than alot of other notable female vocalists. From the sound of it, she just appears to be having a good time singing on these songs, something I can't find any fault with. She adds alot of personality to the songs. The ballad Heart Shaped Scars is a bit of a sour note, its far too poppy sounding for its own good and really lacks the punch of the heavier material. Lullacry aren't necessarily turning heads. They hardly offer anything that hasn't been done before. That being said, they've managed to garner their own little fanbase and its hard to deny the strength of their well crafted songs. No points for originality, but many for the energy and desire. 01. Perfect Tonight 02. Love, Lust, Desire 03. Fire Within 04. Stranger In You 05. Heart Shaped Scars 06. Soul In Half 07. Killing Time 08. I Want You 09. King Of Pain 10. Zero Score: 7/10
