self-released Seattle's Midnight Idols are under the impression that the early 80's never ended and I find absolutely nothing wrong with that. In a sea of endless complex prog, brutal tech death and keyboard overdosed goth metal, its refreshing to hear a band that likes to stick to the basics. Midnight Idols will never claim to be the most original band out there, but as long as they're having fun, does it really matter? With a raw production that mirrors that of the early 80's, the band blazes through 10 songs that are equal parts Scorpions, DiAnno era Maiden, Thin Lizzy and every other NWOBHM band you can shake a stick at. There is no real need to describe each individual song, if you're a fan of the above mentioned bands you'll be headbanging and air guitaring in no time flat. Album highlight would probably be Nihilistic Angel, which could have easily been a single by any of those notable NWOBHM bands back then. Just take my word for it, We Rule The Night, umm, rules. 01. We Rule The Night 02. Bright Lights, City Dreams 03. Heartbreak City 04. Drinkin' Time 05. Light Of The Crimson Moon 06. Helltrain 07. Satan's Son 08. Nihilistic Angel 09. Smell The Witch 10. Leather & Weed Score: 8/10 Midnight Idols' myspace site
