Manowar - The Sons Of Odin

I have an uneasy relationship with Manowar. Early on, Manny did all the right things. Played metal just in the way I wanted to. Hit all the right notes. Painted epic landscapes while wearing skimpy loincloths. In short, I was in heaven. Then Manny gave me our second anniversary present: Into Glory Ride. The loincloths were still there, but Manny became stale overnight. Gone was that fiery passion. Not even a moonlit stroll through the beach. Manny had changed. But on our third anniversary, Manny tried again. Hail To England. The lustful desire was there again! Oh, to be on cloud nine again! And it continued, as Sign Of The Hammer put another spark in me. A giant, epic, mountain-moving spark!

Alas, the dream had to end sooner or later. Disaster struck and I found Manny was being unfaithful! How dare he! He fornicated with that vile slut Commercialism and had a child out of wedlock: Fighting The World. Oh, what happened? Did I do something wrong? Was my adoration not good enough for Manny? But Manny soon learned his mistake, and came crawling back, bearing the gift of Kings Of Metal. He was groveling, on his knees. Unfortunately for him, I wasn't one to be forgiving so quickly. Then he vanished!

It was 4 years later and I had moved on. I had courted other bands and all was well in my world. But I got a surprise one day, as Manny reappeared with Triumph Of Steel. I quickly realized that the pathetic bastard was overcompensating with that one. He disappeared again for a while, but like a rash he just came back. Louder Than Hell he called it. I knew he was a lying snake, behind the sweet smelling rosey riffs was the same cheesy veneer of Manny's past. I was done with Manny!

Manny of course wasn't done. After a few years he became a cheesy sentimental idiot that no one wanted to be around. Warriors Of The World, ha! Go cry me a river! Once again he's overdoing that orchestral nonsense. Doesn't he know that no one wants that? Doesn't he know that all he has to do to win back my heart is write good music again?

After listening to this Sons Of Odin ep, I guess some things never change.
