Cradle of Filth - Seattle 07/08/2001

07/10/2001: Thanks go out to Neil Yager for the contribution of some great images from this show!!! Security didn't like me for some reason and Spitfire Records (their US label) neglected to notify the band that I would be shooting so I was screwed out of a ton of snaps.

Now on to the show. This was the first gig in Cradle's USA tour not to mention their first visit to Seattle. I think they must have been a bit tired from the trip from Europe as they weren't as tight as they seemed to be on live videos I've watched. Dani did a pretty good job of working the crowd, starting off with saying "I wish I'd arrived a few hours earlier so I could have pissed in Kurt Cobain's grave" and going from there. Some of his attempts at wit seemed a little lost on the crowd which seemed to consist mostly of kids who were there mostly for the image rather than the music. The band played for nearly two hours and covered a great deal of material although I would have liked to hear more from their debut album. As to be expected the band had a number of female performance artists to accompany many of the tunes. The set list is as follows and is not necessarily in the correct order:

Cthulu Dawn
Dusk & Her Embrace
Ebony Dressed For Sunset
Forest Whispers My Name
Lord Abortion
Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids
Her Ghost in the Fog
Malice Through The Looking Glass
From The Cradle To Enslave
The Twisted Nails of Faith
The Principal of Evil Made Flesh

Encores-
Beneath the Howling Stars
Queen of Winter Throned

Despite the hassles getting in this was a good show and I had a good time. If you are in any of the US cities Cradle of Filth is visiting on this tour I suggest you go check them out, you won't be disappointed!
