GWAR - 02/12/2002 The Showbox, Seattle WA

On this night GWAR returned to Seattle as a part of their "Blood Drive 2002" tour supporting the "Violence has Arrived" album. After the relatively-quiet opening acts (Goatwhore and God Forbid) the volume (and the crowd) got cranked up big time as Antarctica's favorite band hit the stage. As one would expect for a band that has been performing live as long as GWAR has they definitely knew what they were doing. Oderus and the rest of the Scumdogs whipped the crowd into a frenzy performing classics such as "Salamanizer", "Crush, Kill, Destroy", and "King Queen" as well newer tracks like "Biledriver" and "The Wheel". Of course the red stuff flowed freely as a number of famous people fell victim to GWAR's brand of justice. The blood seemed to have been toned down a bit, at least until near the end of the show. No longer are you safe from the shower by avoiding the first few rows, the sauce has some SERIOUS pressure behind it at times on this tour! I won't go into any more detail on the events which take place during their show as I don't want to spoil it for anyone. If you are a fan of the band (or have never seen GWAR live) I urge you to check them out on their current tour. Huge thanks go out to Kelli from Metal Blade for hooking me up with the photo pass.
