House By The Cemetery Lucio Fulci 1981 Italy

The late master of gore borrows from the Amityville horror films and delivers an entertaining but cheesy thriller.  Movie has a family moving into a house inhabited by a psychotic walking corpse of a doctor named Freud stein.  Whoever strays into the house when Freud stein is on the hunt is easily put, dead!

Lots of superb gore moments like the graphically overdone neck gouging of  a real estate agent, a knife through a girls skull, a lady who gets her neck slashed many times then decapitated, the maggoty insides of Freud stein and loads of other great gore scenes compliments of Gianetto De Rossi.

One scene I had to object to in this film was the sloppily edited scene where a car drives up to a train track towards the beginning of the film.  What can I say, cheesy gore excellence.  Lets not forget the great moment of suspense when Freud stein pushes a young boys head up against a door while the boys father attempts to chop it down and save him.

The late Fulci makes another winner.  Good ending too especially when K Macoll is being painfully dragged down a flight of stairs.  Everyone DIES, not one sucker makes it out alive! except for that runt.  No happy endings here.  Before the credits role something is said about children being monsters and I have no idea what this has to do with the film.

Rating: 4 Skulls
