Re: Ketchup: JOHN DIES, ABCS OF DEATH, WOULD YOU RATHER

I enjoyed JOHN DIES, too, though I wasn't expecting all that much.

It does indeed meander at times, and the low budget lets it down when things get really freaky, but overall I appreciated the Phillip K. Dick + Lovecraft + dick jokes formula.

Re: 15 years later ... and giving thanks

I'm hoping someday some of the old-timers like Terry Luster and Griff will find their way back. Oooh, my ears are burning! I still drop in occassionally and read Remo D's reviews. I don't comment because a) I forgot my password (now rectified) and b) cos I've got nothing to fucking say! That is, I ...

Re: Rec 2

Wasn't keen on the first one but really enjoyed the sequel, for what it was.

Maybe the emphasis on the supernatural made the running zombies easier to stomach...

Thanks for weighing in guys. I'm sorry I can't return the favour but, really, I found so little to like in 2009 that it's just too depressing to contemplate.

What if they hated it? Not as a remake - just as a stand alone film. I thought it was embarrassingly juvenile.

Yeah, right under the big BRONX WARRIORS logo on the back cover. That's the Aussie release from 2005.

I just can't believe they spent almost 20 mill on a FRIDAY THE 13TH movie... Who's playing Jason? Marlon Brando?

Thems some major above-the-line costs.

If that's true then they're sitting on a double, triple, quadraple DVD dip goldmine...

Its unfathomable that they wouldn't see the benefit of getting in there and cataloging the stuff.

Saw this at the TIFF premiere last October and it got a big reaction from the audience. Its one of those movies that inspires audience participation.

A very well-made, fun little picture. Keep an eye out for it.

I liked it but it never grabbed me the way its obviously managed to do with others. I felt it was a little too implausible at times, cheating here and there to get everything to work. And work it does, it just kept me at arms length due to its nefarious methods, is all. Fun movie, though. It really ...

I dunno, Chucky. Its all relative. Those with realistic expectations probably weren't phased by the complete turd that CHILDREN OF THE LIVING DEAD turned out to be. It was very low budget, had only tenuous links to NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and, with Russo & Co on the scene (and so soon after hor...

The DAY OF THE DEAD remake is indefensible trash. Its like they mined every "small town is overrun by ____" movie made in the late 80's/early 90's for cliches, hired the cheapest known bums they could find (both infront of and behind the camera) and then rolled film. If this wasn't made fo...
