I can't understand the ho-hum response that this film seems to be getting from most people. I enjoyed it immensely. I downloaded the "TMD" screener from Morpheus, decoded it to MPEG, and burned it to VCD. The picture must have degraded in the process, because it looks a lot better on my PC monitor t...

Takashi Miike's Rainy Dog DVD now available

(pasted from an email I got) Hi! You're receiving this message because you snagged a copy of Dead or Alive, and asked me to let you know when anything else was available. I'm really happy to say that RAINY DOG -- a great Miike film that's difficult to find -- is now available on an anamorphic DVD-R ...

I got the Versus DVD from Luminous today, along with Cut-Throats Nine (which is AWESOME, I might add!) Versus looks decent, nowhere near "official" DVD quality though. The picture reminds me of VHS. But to settle the debate: the version Luminous is selling is NOT a DVD-R. It's definitely a bootleg, ...

FULCI LIVES/ANCHOR BAY - what's up??

it looks like 3 volumes of a "Fulci lives" series are due out 06/11/2002. They're priced so that it looks like they're just repackagings of two already-released DVDs per volume, like the Argento 2-pack series. I'm hoping there's more to it than that, but I've gotten my hopes dashed by AB before...

I wonder if, unlike the German version, the deleted scene will be re-edited into the film. Not that it adds much, but hey... anything is preferable to watching it separately after the credits roll.

Fred Frey pulled one of his bullshit "out of town for a few days, sorry" acts with me again. Supposedly my order was shipped yesterday, a full fucking week after I placed and paid for it. I swear, if there were ANY other place where I could get this DVD, I would have gone there in a second.

I wouldn't worry too much - the "original" you're referring to is actually itself a bootleg!! Sadly, it'll probably be the best overall DVD release of this film. Rumor has it that upcoming DVD's for the American and/or Euro markets are going to be cut, and something about German-only subs(?!) All th...

It's about fucking time that this disc came out. I was a few days away from ordering the Japanese DVD until I heard about this release. I even got it for free, since I had a $50 gift card to EB. Yes, they sell DVD's now!! Also picked up the anime "X", hoping to watch it soon.

I've got the EC disc, and if I could find the AB one for $13 like you said, I'd certainly pick it up. Sounds like a champ! Screw that Diamond release. Just broke a promise to myself and ordered from Luminous again. I really want to see Versus and Cut-Throats Nine. Oh well, hopefully I won't get shaf...

In the Mood for Love - wait for Criterion, or no?

Sorry for the OT post but I really don't know where else to ask. The US DVD release comes on or around February 26th. The HK and UK special 2xDVD editions are already out. I'm guessing that all three versions share common supplemental materials. Does anyone here own ANY version of this film on DVD? ...

The latest re-re-re-release of EC's DVD appears to be the best thing currently out. It's 16x9, for one thing. Look for the black cover with the crystal skull. I've got the Substance boot, and am sticking with that until such time as Grindhouse's probable vaporware disc is released.

Just heard about Norio Tsuruta's new film KAKASHI, based on Junji Ito's manga (just like Uzumaki was). I bought the special edition off of ebay. The back of the box claims that it's widescreen, as do all the reviews I've read of it. However, it plays full-frame on both my Apex and Pioneer players. Anyone else have this problem? Is mine defective?? http://www.currentfilm.com/dvdreviewsmark/gingersnaps...
