Actually Robert there was a whole slew of porn-horror/roughies to come out of the US in the 70s, for a prime example just check out HARDGORE.

Here's my take on the music vids on the DVDs - the more xtras, the merrier. If you don't dig 'em, don't watch 'em. I recently bought AMORES PERROS on DVD and it contains three music videos from some shitty Mexican rappers... but I'm not gonna complain about them just because I think they're gay. If ...

While I can't really defend Necrophagia's music (you either like 'em or you don't, it's a matter of musical preference), I CAN say I've hung out with Killjoy a few times and he's a very cool, funny, and generous guy. You'll hear no Necrophagia bashing from me. As for their videos, look for more on L...

I've skimmed through the disc, and to be honest the transfer leaves a bit to be desired. The color scale is quite muted, and while the print used appears to be in pretty nice shape (only minor speckling on display) it also seems that some sort of digital filter was used (possibly edge enhancement), ...

The Amazing Transplant DVD - CUT!

My review of Something Weird Video's THE AMAZING TRANSPLANT DVD is now online for you all to peruse. The disc looks nice, but it's 71m16s runtime is a bit short of my old tape's length of 77m53s. For more details check out the link. To go directly to the review page, click: http://www.mondo-digital....

I grew up reading Deep Red, and if there's been one voice that's guided me into the abyss of fandom and shaped my philosophy on flicks in general it's been Chas'. The Deep Red Horror Handbook was my bible for years, and it's still a much-referenced piece on my shelf. The DR gang pointed me to MANY f...

I own AndyMilligan.com and the site should be up by Summer, with some news on another Milligan project I'm involved with. The retrospective in Gick quite honestly sucks. It's about 1,000 words and says absolutely NOTHING - turning up NO real info or even an original thought. As for his films themsel...

My girlfriend and I caught up with it Saturday night (after our Friday night attempt was thrwarted by a two sold-out showings, forcing us into ICE AGE), and BLADE 2 rocked out loud. Tons of fights and violence, with some badass creatures - just be sure to check your brain at the door. Donnie Yen's f...

I actually thought the Cindy Crawford FAIR GAME was reasonably fun in a trash-film sorta way. Plus she got naked, which is ALWAYS a plus.

It's not VENOM and it's not SPASMS... yet I can't remember what the title actually is. I caught the last half on satellite about 6 or 7 months ago - so I can confirm it DOES exist. To spoil the ending the snake bites the guy (I think the girl pretends she was dead or something and the guy comes into...

EVERY shot is cropped when a fullframe film is wrongly matted to 1.85:1. What about the box of band aids in the puddle? What about the playing cards during the psychic games? Gone, gone, gone. Even during it's initial theatrical run the film was only matted to 1.66:1. The new aspect ratio REALLY hur...

AB's EVIL DEAD Book of the Dead - My Feelings

The new Anchor Bay release is softer and duller than the old Elite release, which shows off a much sharper picture with brighter and bolder colors. Skin-tones in AB’s print are also off, with more of a pinkish/reddish hue than the natural looking Elite presentation. The Elite disc DOES have a slight...

Cheap DVDs at Borders!

While in the booming metropolis of Towson, MD today (for a job interview which went horribly) I stopped by a Borders store only to be surprised by the fact that they were currently having a sale on MGM DVDs - Buy 2, Get 1 Free! On top of this they also had coupons lying around the counter that offer...

Cannibal Apocalypse is coming from Image, not Shriek Show/Media Blasters. Hell of the Living Dead looks about 10 times better than the old US release, and it's improved picture quality actually raised my appreciation of the film. It's still not any good, but at least you can see what the hell is goi...

Audition will be out on US DVD within a few months. No clue about the imports region coding, but I would personally recommend the UK release over the HK way, if you need the film immediately. If not, wait and see waht turns up on the US disc.

#1) HorrorDVDs.com is run by a rather unknowledgeable group. Here's their rating system - if it's by Anchor Bay it rocks. That's it. They suck, and don't know shit. #2) No camera trick was used to film Bad Taste in widescreen. It was filmed on 16mm at an aspect ratio of 1.33:1. If you compared it to...

Woo's The Killer is really nothing more than an amalgamation of the works of Jean-Pierre Melville (especially Le Samurai) and Sam Peckinpah... So you're upset that Gans ripped off a rip-off? Just about EVERY action director of the last decade has been inspired, to some extent, by Woo - like it or no...

"Brotherhood was a better film than any of that Hong Kong garbage you mentioned simply because there were no CHINESE PEOPLE IN IT. Period." HAHAHAHA! But I do have to agree that the Fu was horribly choreographed, blandly shot, and too frenetically edited. I had much higher hopes given Marc Dacascos'...
