I can't believe I forgot to respond to this. Yeah, I LOVED Tropic Thunder. I mean, as soon as I saw the poster art I knew I would. A comedy spoofing big budget 80s action films? How could I not like it? Well, it was a great mix of comedy and action. At times it reminded me both of "Shaun of the...

I didn't realize this was a remake either since I've pretty much given up on Asian horror. But it doesn't surprise me in the least. Either way, I thought the trailers looked absolutely terrible so I never gave much thought to going to see it, especially since I wasn't a fan of the other two Aja films.

The Clone Wars

Well, needless to say, this one is for hardcore fans only and I happen to be one. I enjoyed it well enough, but there was nothing in it that exactly gave me goosebumps. The plot was ok and there was plenty of action. Some of the animation looked amazing, but at other times it looked like they left i...

Hausu (House)

Have we talked about this crazy as hell Japanese movie from 1977? We probably shouldn't because words can't do it justice. It's one of the most messed up movies I've seen. If you've forgotten why you used to love Asian horror, this would be a good movie to go back and watch. It's a typical haunted h...

Baby Blues

Well, we've touched upon it periodically in other movies, the increasing amount of violence towards children in film and things seem to have come to a head here (I hope). Allegedly based on true events, it's the story of a mother with the world's worst case of postpartum depression. I think the moth...

Attack of the B Movies

It pains me to see only one thread here so I'll try to beef it up a bit by spreading this news I got the other day. National Amusements theaters are doing their "Attack of the B Movies" special program again, running every Thursday from now until just before Halloween. Here's a link to the...

I love Will Ferrell (though oddly, never took to Old School like most others did) and John C. Reilly (huge Walk Hard fan here) so you just know I loved "Step Brothers".The entire thing was ludicrous, but I love comedies like that. I mean, who sleepwalks like that? ha, so awesome.... I thou...

Hmmm, no one else saw this over the weekend? Hard to believe considering the money it's raking in. Anyway, I went to see it at IMAX last night and thought it was great. Probably one of the best comic book movies yet... (although, assuming they are smart enough to NOT include any Smashing Pumpkins in...

Actually, I hate to say it but...I DIDN'T see! Both times that show aired I couldn't catch it for one reason or another. But I remember reading your blog about it so I at least knew it happened. But in good old fashioned wrestling tradition, maybe you can just invite him on the show...and then just ...

"plants good, people bad"

I didn't like it at all. Waaay too preachy for my tastes. I don't like being constantly told how awful human beings are and as if the plot itself didn't do just that, you are actually subjected to a lecture about it right near the end. This suffers from the same thing recent Romero films suffer from...

I finally watched it last night and man, am I glad I couldn't find anyone to drive out to Boston to see it with. It would've been a wasted trip. I won't say I hate the movie, and I will finish watching all the dvd extras and the commentary, etc.. Maybe George can talk me into appreciate it more than...

Huh. My computer must be completely fucked up. I use dvd region free and lately sometimes it automatically starts, sometimes it doesn't, it shut off when I paused the disc once and other weird stuff. But most importantly, I've got the Grindhouse disc in again right now as I type, the same one that h...

I love how in your post to tell us you won't be doing more reviews, you post two mini reviews! lol. Seriously, I wouldn't feel obligated to go see anything you don't want to see just for our sakes. Thanks, I didn't see that on the site. A search for "Grindhouse" brings up about 70 dvds...but not GRINDHOUSE. That's not a bad price, imo. It actually cost me $93 to get it shipped to me direct from Japan. I'm guessing that they must've ordered a bunch at the Japanese pre-order price sinc...

Japanese Grindhouse box set

I just got mine in the mail today. I'm sure it'll take me forever to actually watch all of it, but on first inspection, the audio sucks. I usually play everything on my computer and I have to crank it up all the way just to reach a normal listening level. If you've got a nice surround system or some...

RIP Ben Chapman

Ben Chapman, who portrayed the Creature From The Black Lagoon during the land scenes from the classic movie, "passed away this morning at 12:15 AM Hawaii time. He was admitted to the hospital two days ago and died peacefully in his hospital bed. He had a living will and they turned off his life...

Saw it tonight and thought it was great. Not too original story-wise, but it was great to get the "view from the street" during one of these monster rampages for a change. The whole initial attack right up to the scene on the bridge was amazing. I didn't really care much for the little min...
