Thanks Kim! Yeah, it's hard to believe we've known each other for that long. Where have all the years gone? I sometimes miss the good old days of trading bootlegs, but I'm quite happy with all the discs in my collection so I can't complain too much:)

Thanks again for the birthday wishes.

Awesome recap Remo. I had mine ready to go but I was waiting for you to do the honors before I chimed in:) Now for my turn.... IMO 2009 was a much better year than 2008 when it comes to genre films. It also gave me more of a reason to get out to the theater more often (unlike last year when I only m...

What movies were in the Paul Naschy set? P.S. They're ALL better than CRIMSON (which he didn't write OR direct, and in which he had only a supporting role--top billing or not--so that one doesn't even count as a "Naschy film" in my book). The five movies in the set are EXORCISM, BLUE EYES...

Stuff I've been watching lately

I've recently acquired a bunch of titles for my collection during the recent holiday sales. I bought a bunch of used DVDs for dirt cheap at MovieStop as well as some other places. I spent the last few weeks of 2009 watching some old favorites as well as finally catching up to one I hadn't seen yet. ...

LOL Good move Kim. I decided to go ahead and reserve the spot right under you:devildoll All kidding aside, I just hope my viewing log this year doesn't get messed up like it did halfway through 2009 (causing me to give up entirely). I'm making it a point to see it all the way through this year. As b...

R.I.P. Chas Balun

What a crappy way to end the year! When I first heard about this I was hoping it would turn out to be a hoax, but this (along with other things I read) pretty much confirms it: http://www.fangoria.com/home/news/15-rip/4872-rip-chas-balun-1948-2009.html Geez, that makes three horror icons we lost jus...

Finally caught a matinee showing of this today and agree entirely. SHERLOCK HOLMES is an awesome movie and certainly one of the best I've seen all year. I don't have the Holmes background like Remo, but that still didn't stop me from enjoying the film. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law were both terrif...

Happy Birthday Kimberly!

Yeah I'm talking about you again:) To my favorite gal on the board as well as the only female among the old-timers that has been here the longest. Haven't seen you in awhile, but I hope life is treating you good. How about showing yourself a little more around here eh? Just kidding, but I hope you h...

I plan on seeing this soon (once the crowds wear down) in IMAX and have heard nothing but positive comments about it, so I'm pretty excited and hoping it's not just another 300. I would have seen it in IMAX but the "Real 3-D" showing was the only one I was able to make in time. Aside from...

Awesome review Remo! I had planned on seeing SHERLOCK HOLMES this weekend but decided to get AVATAR out of the way first and didn't have time to make it out to this one. Reading your review definitely makes me want to see it now. The good news is that I have the last two days of the year off, so hop...

AVATAR in 3-D

Went to see a matinee showing of this the other day in Real 3-D and really enjoyed it. I was really excited when I heard that James Cameron was making another movie, but I also feared that all of the hype would ruin it for me. Much to my surprise, AVATAR turned out to be pretty decent. It certainly ...

R.I.P Dan O'Bannon

Just a few weeks after the death of Paul Naschy, it looks like genre fans are being dealt another blow. Amidst the media hype surrounding Brittany Murphy's death, I just found out today that director/screenwriter Dan O'Bannon passed away last Thursday at the age of 63. Most of us will likely remembe...

Good old Remo....taking one for the team so we don't have to;) I have no interest in NEW MOON or any of the other movies. I finally saw TWILIGHT when I was on vacation this summer and the only good thing I can say is that I didn't pay to see it. That had to be one of the most overhyped movies ever a...

Despite my lack of satisfaction with Dark Castle's latest offerings, this is one movie I was looking forward to and I have to say that I really enjoyed this movie a lot. One of my favorite childhood memories was watching NINJA III: THE DOMINATION on HBO in the mid-80's. Seeing that movie got me inte...

I got burned out after SAW III and still haven't seen the last two entries. But after reading Remo's review I'm really wanting to see this one. I just need to catch up to parts IV and V first. But I do agree that the series needs to end now, but something tells me that might not happen right away.

I was pretty disappointed with this one and was wondering afterward if I would have had a better time with WHITEOUT. I never saw the original HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW, so I had no reference point going to this aside from the ads that seemed to mirror IKWYDLS. After seeing SORORITY ROW, I'm still decidi...

I walked into this one already knowing what to expect....a big-budget live-action cartoon courtesy of Stephen Sommers. Although this wasn't as good as his remake of THE MUMMY, I still had a better time with it than I did with THE MUMMY RETURNS or VAN HELSING. I also enjoyed seeing Sienna Miller as t...

Here is I am dropping in to catch up on posts again:) I saw this one on opening weekend along with H2 and thought it was a blast. The 3-D effects were some of the best I've ever seen. I actually didn't mind this one that much. Then again, I was one of the few people that didn't hate Zombie's HALLOWEEN remake. I pretty much agree with what Remo said above for the most part. While I didn't hate this a whole lot, I just thought it paled in comparison to FINAL DESTINATION 3-D. But I ...

I can't believe nobody has posted about this one yet. Certainly somebody has seen it besides me. Is it really that dead in here? :p I loved the first two X-MEN movies and thought they were among the best superhero flicks ever made. The third one had it's moments but I didn't feel that it measured up...

I'm in total agreement with everyone here. I was never a big fan of "Star Trek" on TV. I've only seen select episodes of the original series and "Next Generation" but never bothered with any of the other spinoffs. My biggest exposure to TREK was the movies that I grew up on. I en...
