I’m not really a Mattei fan but when I saw this I figured I should watch one of his films. I had Snuff Trap sitting on my shelf for a while and since I’ve never seen it I watched that. It was amusing in the typical bad movie kind of way, it’s pretty much a rip off of 8mm, several scenes seemed like ...

Did you dig up an old tape, or was this the belated Quentin Tarantino/Rolling Thunder re-release, or am I COMPLETELY off base here? I got an old VHS tape of this not too long ago, it was released by Videoville Showtime, Inc., the box says “Original Version” but I don’t see any alternate versions fo...

The Executioner

I watched this last night and was pretty impressed. Right from the opening scene, in which the two main characters electrocute a guy in a wheelchair using a urinal and an extension cord and then proceed to go on a shooting spree during the opening credits, this movie moves at full speed. The story i...

I've never been a huge fan of Henenlotter but I did enjoy several of his films. This one sounds interesting and I'll probably check it out. Here is a recent interview with him, he speaks about the upcoming movie a little.

The first one is probably the best of the franchise. As the series "progressed" it got less and less serious, I couldn't bring myself to watch Seed of Chucky since Bride of Chucky was pretty bad overall. There were some one liners in the first one but I thought there was a good balance wit...

Yeah, things have gotten better in terms of quality. The picture and sound are potentially better on DVD and the DVD is less destructible since it has no moving parts. On the other hand, imo, no DVD case I’ve ever seen has ever come close to capturing the charm that an old VHS tape, complete with vi...

I’m surprised that there are not more responses that include old and out of print VHS. This board is what got me started collecting things like that back in the day and I remember always reading about peoples scores from the bargain bins at their local Mom and Pop video stores (back when things like...

I usually don’t bother checking most horror movies that play in the theatres but I was in Best Buy looking at HDTV’s and this trailer came on; I thought it looked pretty good. Even though I liked the trailer I still thought the movie would suck but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. The whole...

While watching that music video I realized that it has been far too long since I've seen Dead Alive/Braindead, it's so stale in my memory that I now really miss it after seeing the vid. Don't get me wrong, that was a pretty shitty music video (no offense), but seeing a few highlights from that movie...

I was reluctant to pick this up since I already have the dvd from Astro but I was sold on the really low price, $11.99, and the fact that I was pretty let down with my other dvd so I grabbed it and I'm really glad I did. All of the previous times I have watched this movie I found myself annoyed over...

The master encyclopedia idea is something that I’ve always wanted to see done as well. I’ve always liked the boxes for the Thriller Video releases and for a web design class I took a few years ago I made a collectors guide to all of the releases from them that I know of. I managed to get an image of...

Here's a link. Hopefully you can still get it, I think that at one point they used to sell it at Amazon. It's the 2003 edition but about a year or two ago I emailed the author with an update for his Thriller Video list and he told me that it was highly unlikely that there would ever be a new editio...

You might want to get yourself a copy of The Trashfiend's Guide To Collecting Videotapes if you haven't done so already. It's not that great but it's the only reference for things like these that I've ever come across. The list of Wizard releases is the same as the one Chris posted though. As far as...

One of my old favorites was Video Screams. They have TONS of titles, the quality on all the ones I used to buy were imo rated accurately by their quality rating system. Not sure what they are charging now but they were really cheap back then.

Haha! I remember Revok had these 2 Fulci tapes that were "originals from Japan" for $50 each (House By The Cemetary was one, I forget the other.) and they turned out to be fakes. I ordered from them about that time and the tapes I got (not the 2 I just mentioned) were pretty good. As for V...

The Night Of The Hunted

I just finished another viewing of this movie and while I do find it a bit slow at times I find it to be just as enjoyable as the first time I saw, and loved, it. I always wonder about this movie though. Is the movie just what it appears to be at face value, a bizarre, tragic, love story, or is it s...
