I just read a review of this from TIFF. If I could have been there to see it, I would have been all over it. Sounds great. One of the guys on my blogroll was up there to see it but he hasn't reported back to me. Sounds encouraging. How was the violence? If you can count on one thing, Romero delivers...

King of Kong

From what I understand, this is getting the usual documentary treatment as far as theatrical releases go. So many will probably have to wait until DVD, but since a lot of you guys are from Seattle, maybe you had the chance to catch it at SIFF. Too bad, if you missed it. King of Kong is about competi...

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear, man. I'm such a revenge/vigilante buff that I wanted this to work so badly. I'm glad to hear that it's good. I'm going to check this out to erase the memory of the Halloween remake. Despite my wishy washy review of THAT movie, my latest conclusion is that i...

True to my word, curiosity got the best of me and I wound up taking in a private show of this last night. Over all not a bad movie. The first half of the movie features the background of Michael Meyers and the second half is pretty much a shot for shot rehash of Carpenter's movie, albeit with much m...

Definitely buying this one tonight. Played a little of the demo and was sold on it immediately. Awesome level design, great atmosphere. Reminds me of System Shock 2.

To the Devil a Daughter

http://www.cinema-suicide.com/images/delilah.jpg At 1:21 PM on August 11th, I became a father to a 21 and 1/4 inch, 7 pounds 8 ounces baby girl. I’m shocked by my ability to articulate anything at all, let alone the events that have happened since I got home from the record store at 11:30 on Friday...

Huge bummer here. Devil's Rejects was such a success that it allowed Rob Zombie to write his own checks. They asked him what he wanted to do next and he could have told them anything, but he wanted to make his version of Halloween. I think that translates to 90 minutes of frantic hand held camera wo...

"And I wish you didn't have the devil's curly hair."

I was so afraid that this movie was going to suck but really good things happen when you give a single Simpsons plot 90 minutes. It reminded me of the show when it was at the top of its game. Great movie.

Also.

Damn! the good ol' Latest buys thread. Good show, Dave.

Like you, I've been sitting on a pile of theme movies, Vincent Price:

The Masque of the Red Death
The Fall of the House of Usher
Master of the World
Conqueror Worm
Scream and Scream Again

Man, if there is one thing I wish Hollywood would get over right now, it's this whole torture porn thing. I never thought I'd say it, but I find this sort of movie boring. Ever since Saw, they've been trying to up the ante with each new movie and sequel. On one hand, this new trend stemmed the produ...

Cloverfield? Haven't heard of it. There was a really cool teaser for an unnamed JJ Abrahms project. Looked like it might be a Godzilla-esqe movie filmed in a home movie perspective, oh and the Simpsons! Hanheld monster movie = Cloverfield. Details are starting to come down. Looks like it might have...

I opted out of Die Hard tonight to hang with my wife and take in this flick. All told, not a bad movie. I'll agree with you, the scene toward the beginning with the surfing had me rolling my eyes, anticipating the whole dream sequence cop out. I didn't want to give them too much credit and assume th...

Behind The Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon

For the love of god, see this movie! I'd heard so much hype about it and was ready to be let down but I get it. It takes a really trite concept and turns it on its head. Leslie Mancuso lives in a world where masked slashers are real. He invites a film crew to follow him on his tour de force when he'...

I've put it on a couple of times but I always wind up having to shut it off to do other things. I can say this, though: It's a much bigger movie that focuses less on Anton and widens the scope to many other characters. The cursed girl from Night Watch is now a major character, too. Like the first on...

The mercury diode in the 360 guitars is baaaaad. My ex-roommate solved this problem by taping a stack of nickels on the select button. See, I was afraid it was a mercury switch. I popped open the guitar and I suspect that the diode is the silver disc under the whammy bar electronics. I jam on the w...

My 360 guitar shit the bed the other day. I can't use star power now without hitting the select button and that little thing is impossible to bullseye when you need it. I need to buy a new guitar so I can get in on that GH3 action.

People who bag on Pac Man really don't know what they're missing. I find myself falling into the same fugue state that I do when I play Geometry Wars. I'd been saving my points for future Guitar Hero updates but that doesn't look like it's ever going to happen. Glad I broke down and bought it.

I guess it all depends on what you consider creepy. It's a really subjective term. I usually recommend The Sentinel in instances like this because a well executed ghost story really gets me and that one has some serious creeps. Other people might think I'm nuts, though.

I have zero intention of seeing this movie but I was very interested in seeing how Galactus worked out. I knew he wouldn't be the guy in the purple suit that he's been in the comics, so are there any screenshots or anything of him?

What did he look like? Was he huge?
