Yeah, I picked up SUSPIRIA and it played perfectly for me. As far as I'm aware, the only problems have been with OPERA which, as you know, has now been recalled. That said, I did give OPERA a spin and it worked just fine.

Remo, I wouldn't bother. I admire your vigilance when it comes to checking out every horror movie that comes along but perhaps its time you started to let a few slip by. Indeed, before the internet, I use to watch every piece of shit that hit the cinemas and video simply because there was no other v...

I vaguely recall posting about this as soon as it hit Aussie video, 3 or so years ago. I also vaguely recall the movie itself as I had double vision for half its duration. Ah, when we were young... I guess a revisit is just about due. What's the story with HEAVEN? New Zealand or U.S. production? I m...

Well, okay, so I took my time but I finally dragged my arse down to the cinema to see this one. Most of the criticisms I'd heard where of the 'it ain't as good as the original' variety, a problem that doesn't usually bother me. After all, how could it be? Nobody mentioned that this movie quite simpl...

Although I value your humble opinions, folks, I think it best if I waited for GHOSTS to rock up on these shores before I let the marsupials out of their enclosure. Sorry to disappoint you. I've pretty much accepted that none of my favourite directors of yesteryear will revisit their glory days in th...

CROSSFIRE aka PYROKINESIS

From Shusuke Kaneko (90's GAMERA, new GODZILLA, NECRONOMICON) comes this familiar scenario of a young lady, Junko, with the ability to set shit on fire using telekineses. Well, pyrokinesis. Naturally, she's a little resentful of this affliction but the affections of a goofy co-worker coerces her out...

GHOSTS OF MARS ahoy!

Alrighty, you spoilt American brothers and sisters, not long to go now. Let's hear some opinions on this flick. I'm just hoping for a kick arse beer drinking movie so tell me it delivers on that level or I'll gouge my eyes out with kangaroo cocks and never go to the cinema again. [This message has b...

ROUTE 666 (2001)

What can you folks tell me about this one? Its piqued my curiousity simply because its the second feature from William Wesley, director of that underrated 80's celebration of pitch black lighting and moody music horror, SCARECROWS. Apparently a couple of FBI agents escorting a witness take the wrong...

Snuggled up to this one tonight and while its not the definitive Gein biopic I was hoping for, its still got a lot going for it. Railsback is a charmer as Eddie Gein and does a good job at filling the imaginative but troubled introvert's shoes. The film makers seem to have concentrated more on Ed's ...

A friend of mine should be hauling me back a copy from the States next week so I'll be eager to check it out. So far its sounding pretty good to me. The makers are currently in production on a follow-up, a Ted Bundy biopic. Savini's doing the effects but I doubt they'll be too extreme. I wonder who'...

Cheers Terry, an entertaining and informative review to be sure. Okay, so maybe GALAXY doesn't quite reach the dizzying heights of NIGHTBEAST but I still hold out hope for the others.

By the way, if you enjoy GHOSTBUSTERS-like supernatural effects, check out FIEND. Yeah, you'll see what I mean...

I actually found this one to be pretty enjoyable, must be that Aussie charm... From the IMDb: The movie had to be re-cut five times in order to achieve an R-rating. Most significant cuts include: graphic sexual activity during the climactic orgy sequence; The death of a character named Annette The o...

ALIEN RAMPAGE

I can't believe it! Don Dohler's made another film. I wonder if it'll be up there with FIEND and NIGHTBEAST. Can anyone tell me anything about this? Has anyone seen his other movies THE ALIEN FACTOR, THE GALAXY INVADER and BLOOD MASSACRE? Does anyone care? [This message has been edited by Griff [Mol...

NON HO SONNO

A-Oooh! I had the sincere pleasure of checking out the new R2 Italian DVD of this and I gotta say its definitely a step in the right direction for Argento. I wouldn't say its quite a throwback to his smooth giallos of the early-mid Seventies but rather a simmering broth of elements from all his film...

Wow, pardon the pun but this place is dead. I wasn't gonna comment on this but since there's nothing else going on... Read the first draft of Romero's script the other night and it would have made a fun flick, pleasing both fans of the game and of action-orientated horror movies. In many ways it owe...

Thanks Mike but I owe everything to the deadly concoction of Zyban, alcohol and various other stimulants/depresants which have made me go a bit loopy (eg. attempting to urinate in my housemate's wardrobe, repeatedly) these past few days.

From now on I'll stick to one-sentence posts, fellas. Cheers.

I don't place an association at all between screen violence and the real stuff and that's not the impression I got from FUNNY GAMES although, granted, that could have been Haneke's intention. If so, Haneke sucks but I like this flick. I don't feel I have to agree with a movie's creed to admire its v...

I didn't take it as personal as Jon did, neither did I think that FUNNY GAMES made a comment about my behaviour in REAL LIFE (although I haven't seen BENNY'S VIDEO) but its definitely pointing a finger at its audience. What it seems to be suggesting to me is that all this onscreen human suffering (b...

Hey Latte, I have the Fox Lorber R1 DVD of FUNNY GAMES and that's because I think its, well, swell. Alot of people think that director Michael Haneke's flick is pretentious and its true that he has no particular affinity for the genre but I don't think that that's a necessarily a pre-requisite to ma...

I recall this having a very fancy trailer but for the most part, this flick just seems to be yet another post-SCREAM yawn fest. Albeit an Australian one, no less. Its good to see a return to the good old days were an Aussie production would require the presence of one (has-been) American actor to ma...

Apparently ED GEIN was screened at a recent festival and I read a couple of reviews that were pretty mixed. Then again, they were probably written by some nerds expecting Gein to be playing cat and mouse mind games with Morgan Freeman. The Pommy horror mag, THE DARK SIDE, had a good article on this ...
