Re: Thor

LOL I saw this when it first came out a few weeks ago and never got around to talking about it. Of course I decided to save the few bucks and see it "flat" since I heard the 3-D in this wasn't very good. I thought the movie was alright as well, but it was definitely on the lower rungs of the "superh...

Re: SCREAM 4 .... in case anybody is curious

Now, did Craven's last two films really both fail miserably? I believe RED EYE came between CURSED and MY SOUL TO TAKE, and that one scored both a good review from me and a successful box office take. Crap, I forgot all about RED EYE and actually thought that one was decent as well. But I don't kno...

SCREAM 4 .... in case anybody is curious

Since our resident reviewer gave us fair warning recently that he was sitting this one out, I decided to take up the reins since I saw it. I know this series is not very popular with some folks on here. But I hadn't seen any good horror lately and was yearning for something away from the endless sle...

Re: Sucker Punch

I'm glad I'm not alone when it comes to 300. To me it's my least favorite Zack Snyder movie. I've seen that movie twice and for some reason could never get into it as much as I did WATCHMEN and the DAWN OF THE DEAD remake. As for SUCKER PUNCH I caught it at a matinee yesterday and truly enjoyed it. ...

Re: Drive Angry

Sorry I'm late catching up to this but here goes.... I saw this on opening weekend and really enjoyed it (first theatrical viewing so far this year). Sure it wasn't the greatest movie, but it was definitely a lot more entertaining that I expected it to be. Nicolas Cage was also better in this than I...

Aww thanks Kim (and guys). When I first saw this new thread, I thought it was about some movie I hadn't heard of. I guess it's a good thing I decided to click on it:)

Thanks again y'all!

Re: Movies I WON'T be reviewing this year...

Out of the movies you mentioned Remo, SCREAM 4 is the only one that interests me. I'm curious to see how the formula will work today and just hope it is better than CURSED. I've never been a fan of the PIRATES franchise and to date have only seen the first film. Everybody know by now how I feel abou...

Re: Well, what the fuck do I know, anyway?

I'd say Remo that you obviously know more than today's typical movie going crowd. The people who made ROOMMATE the #1 movie were no doubt teenagers and/or fans of "Gossip Girl". I'm willing to bet thant these people probably never even saw or heard of SINGLE WHITE FEMALE. This younger crowd are prob...

Re: The Green Hornet (2011)

Thanks Remo. I was debating about whether or not to see this one, but at least now I'll know not to expect a whole lot. I'll probably check it out at a matinee this week since I haven't been to see anything in awhile. I'm definitely passing on the converted 3-D as I'm already sick of the gimmick and...

Re: 2010 in review...

Great recap Remo. Now for my turn:) Along with the previous year, 2010 was much better than 2008 in getting me out to the theatre a lot more. However I only saw 15 movies in the theatre in 2010 compared to 21 in 2009. But I did catch up to five 2010 releases as rentals bringing the list to an even 2...

2011 Movie Viewing Log Thread

Looks like I'm doing the honors by starting the thread for this year:) I managed to stick through and keep up with my list for 2010 and hopefully will do the same for 2011. As before, this list only includes first time viewings during the year. 1. 1/1 - G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA (Blu-Ray) 2. 1/1 -...

Re: Buried... After.Life

"Buried" was pretty darn good, thanks for the heads up. Easily the best performance I have seen from Ryan Reynolds. Especially after the way I despised him in BLADE: TRINITY... now I think he deserves an Oscar! Hahah. Well, that movie was an abomination as a whole, Reynolds only made it worse... Oh...

Catching up......SOCIAL NETWORK and RED

Haven't been out to the movies much lately as the recent genre offerings didn't really hold a lot of interest for me. However, I did catch up to two mainstream films that were nothing special but still worth my time and money. First up was SOCIAL NETWORK (a.k.a. the "Facebook movie"). I didn't go to...

Sweet pics Chris, thanks for posting them. Too bad nothing exciting like that ever happens around here. But I only live 2 hours south of the D.C. metro area so I'm hoping one of those cons will find their way at least up there eventually

Re: Happy Halloween to all!

Happy halloween for me as well. No movies for me tonight but I've seen enough in the past week or so to make up for it. Instead I'll be watching "Desperate Housewives" (my Sunday night staple and guilty pleasure). I might also check out that "Walking Dead" series. I'm a big fan of zombies and Frank ...

Yes, you must be the only one Remo:) I know for sure that I haven't seen them. The last movie I saw in the theatre that was even remotely horror related was RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE. There just hasn't been much out there lately that I cared to see. I feel like I could personally skip stuff like CASE...

Re: Resident Evil--Afterlife

HANG YOUR HEAD IN SHAME CHUCK! IN SHAME! We're not going to start arguing now are we Kim? :devildoll But seriously, I had a good time with this movie and actually enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD (as much as it saddens me to say). It delivered what I expected so that's all ...

George Romero's SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD

So nobody else on here has seen this yet?!? I finally saw it yesterday and have to say I was really let down by it. IMO this is easily the worst of Romero's "dead" series and actually made me like DIARY OF THE DEAD a lot more (which I honestly didn't like as much as most people did). I found it hard...

Re: The Runaways

Finally caught up to this one yesterday via rental. This one would up only getting a limited release and didn't even open up near me. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but THE RUNAWAYS really isn't too bad of a movie. The believable performances are really what make this one worth seeing. Kristen Stew...

Re: Resident Evil--Afterlife

Well I caught this the other day and actually enjoyed it a little more than Remo probably did. Sure it was nothing original and the MATRIX stuff was a little embarassing, but the 3-D effects were awesome and there was plenty of action to keep me entertained. I must admit that I liked this one a litt...

Re: Resident Evil--Afterlife

Nice review Remo. I've never kept up with the series since the first movie, but I was looking forward to this one just for the 3-D and the awesome trailer. It's nice to hear that it's real 3-D this time and not just another conversion job. I'll probably go check it out later this week. Quick questio...

Re: MACHETE

Caught this at a matinee yesterday and enjoyed every minutes of it. MACHETE was everything I hoped to be and more. The cast, action scenes, and splatter were all top-notch. I really didn't have that much of a problem with Jessica Alba (even if she did play her role a little stiff). But I was really ...

Re: "Ketchup"--INCEPTION, SCOTT PILGRIM, PIRANHA 3-D

I was one of those "guys" who went to see THE EXPENDABLES instead of SCOTT PILGRIM, but judging from the previews it might be worth checking out as a rental for me. There are just too many other films coming out I want to see that I can't possibly see everything on the big screen. INCEPTION and THE ...

Saw this at a matinee on Saturday and really enjoyed it as well. I had high hopes for the movie and wasn't disappointed. The cast in this was absolutely terrific. Plus it was great to see Dolph Lundgren and Arnold back on the big screen again. I wasn't really put off by the CGI splatter since it is ...
