I can't help but laugh histerically everytime someone gets their panties in a twist over the mainstream band using the name Incubus. The death metal band wasn't even the first to use the name.

Opeth I'd have to disagree here. Only Akerfeldt and Lindgren are essential to their sound. Neither Martin Lopez or Martin Mendez have a commanding influence to the overall sound, both just doing whats expected of them and nothing more. After Johan De Farfalla was fired, the band has really lacked t...

Demolition Hammer wrote:Blind Guardian (depending on how they sound with the new drummer the old drummer may not have been so integral)
Thomas Stauch left some pretty big shoes to fill. He's very underrated as a formidable drummer, IMO. I hope this new guy is up to snuff.

Now here's where there's a problem. It seemed that with grunge in full swing there was a decine in thrash metal's popularity as well. Yes, I know Metallica was still going strong but after the Black Album they went in a different direction with Load, a far take from Ride the Lightning or Master of ...

Recently picked up the 25th anniversary reissues of Mercyful Fate's Melissa and King Diamond's Abigail. Unless if you are a die-hard Mercyful/King fan, there's no reason to buy these if you already own the old reissues. The Melissa bonus DVD only has live 3 songs of poor quality while the Abigail bo...

As for Nevermore, the new album is really good, though they may never top The Politics Of Ecstasy. Highly recommended!

Dark Tranquillity I had already heard the In Flames and Soilworks by the time I bothered with Dark Tranquillity. I bought a used copy of The Gallery and was impressed. But it wasn't til I bought Haven that I was truly hooked. I perfer their more recent material, Haven being my perfered choice. The n...

The Perfect Element and Remedy Lane are masterpieces. The latter is the only album that has ever brought me to tears (I now associate it with a personal relationship that went to hell). One Hour By The Concrete Lake is pretty good as is Entropia, though I play them with less frequency. Be pissed me ...

I can tolerate the older acts but the garbage that is around today is intolerable. Shit like G-Unit, 50 Cent and Lil' John is so fucking terrible that I cannot see any aesthetic value to any of it, not even in a 'I kinda see why other people may like it' way.

I actually like some of the albums mentioned, particularly Load and Against :) Actually Against is the first album I ever re-bought after selling it. As for my own personal worsts, I dunno. St. Anger is definately up there. Last year had a ton of shitty albums by bands I love, such as the abominatio...
