Anyone ever wonder?

Post by LIVE FO RETSINIM » Wed Nov 26, 2008 4:55 am

Now I don't want to cause alarm, but do you ever wonder sometimes, maybe just way back in your head, that maybe, just maybe, all this financial crisis was created sort of on purpose, and we got a socialist president, at just the right time, just in the nick of time to swoop in and governize the banks, insurance agencies, car industry, homes and property. There was an asshole put in place to fuck it all up beyond belief, now they really come in and socialism takes over. Yikes! It won’t be your classic, easy to recognize at first socialism, but it is already here and getting worse I imagine.

I have noticed in the news a lot of shooting type violence really hyped recently. I mean a lot of shootings have been happening around here recently, you noticed? You think they are going to start to take our guns away now???????????? Pretty convenient how that all works don’t’ you think? In fact, I think I heard some thing being passed banning guns from some thing or another in King county. Someone would have to look that up cause I am not. I watch the news on the TV, I don’t search for it on the net.

Point is, we are fucked. You will all be looking to me for survival in the future, but for now just save your gold trinkets and daughters away and safe for me. I will collect them when the time is right. JJGC – 4 – LIFE

I wonder a lot about a bunch of weird shit. Sometimes the patterns are clear enough, but usually the public doesn't have enough of the information about what's *really* going on to see the patterns. I don't think the Republicans would deliberately set themselves up for what happened. The Dems are clearly jumping on it, and they could have set it up, but somehow, I doubt that, too. I think in this country, the motives are smaller, more selfish and more personal. I don't doubt that there are government "conspiracies" but I think they're much more focused on specific personal gains than far reaching evils perpetrated for the sake of evil.

A Socialist President? Meh. I have relatives in Denmark. That's not a particularly effective way to frighten me.

They're going to take our guns away? Hah! Good luck! My guess is that would work about as well as Prohibition worked. Remember, with Prohibition, the people had alcohol, and knew how to make more. With guns, the people you're trying to give up something have guns, and probably know where to get more. In all honesty, living in WA, all we can think that could be done about guns is to start taking them away. Remember, there are states in the union where they want to make sure that you can write your name on a piece of paper and announce proudly that you don't aim to go killin' nobody who don't need killin'. Further gun control without taking all the weapons out of the hands of law abiding citizens is, therefore, completely possible.

The things that worry me, really, are more related to things the media barely touches on. Or things that are suddenly hyped. Recently, I've noticed a lot of global violence. That part of your question I do wonder about. Is there *really* more people out there offing one another, or is the media just having a field day? And why? (Why the extra killing or why the field day?) Yep, that makes me wonder. It makes me start reading every other news story that's little and appears small.

No, that book was not written by her, but I have read all of her fiction, and non-fiction works. I attend the Objectivist Summer Conferences every year in July/August too.

I have also read most of Nathaniel Branden's works although they had a bitter break-up over 20 years ago and he has been estranged from the Objectivist movement since then.

Murray Rothbard was one of her students for a while before she banished him based on philisophical grounds and because he was more of an anarcho-capitalist rather than a proponent of limited government. His entire works can be found at http://www.mises.org and many are free downloadable ebooks.
