I'm sad. I finished Valley of the Dolls the other day and love-love-LOVED it!

Also for the King fans'; he's got a brand spankin' new short story in the July issue of Esquire mag that I picked up and read as well. Morality.

I'm about 1/2 way through Valley of the Dolls right now. HA. I keep forgetting about it and coming back to it though...... But I got the movie like 6 months ago and I won't let myself watch it till I finish the book, so now I'm on a mission!

Been reading The Stranger weekly and all of it's dripping nepotism. Articles, reviews and opinions written by a few people, pretty much about themselves and their bands. Awesome. So much self back patting and reach arounds, it's almost like watching other people have sex. Reading people write disguised in a third person point of view about their coke filled scenester lives, in their scenester bands and their scenester clubs makes for a good five minute shitter read. Who's growing an awesome beard? Who's dreads are smellier? Read this week's The Stranger to find out!

Haha rad. I was planning on watching it again also. I saw at least part of it as a kid, but I'm not so sure I want to now. The book I have has a pic of the 3 women from the movie and nothing is right about that picture.

I'm thinking I'll be very unhappy should I watch it now. To me, the book read like a black and white 1940's Hollywood movie and THAT is how it should have been done, had they done it right. (It's also the very reason I was surprised into loving it so much.)

Well, you kind of expect it, cuz Hollywood always fucks up everything. No art anymore only what sells. Sad that real art doesn't sell like shitty actors and fancy sets. I'd much rather have unknown TALENTS then "popular" douchebags who can't act their way out of a speeding ticket.... (that wasn't really directed at anyone in Valley of the Dolls since I've never seen any of them act that I can recall..... just a general comment)

I take it back, I'm going to watch it anyhow. I just discovered the author is in it.

I was just eyeballin' that at Border's last week. Tell me how it is.

For some reason, I had this book title stuck in my head from hearing it on TV or something and... had to go find a copy of the most brutal story ever just to exorcise the thought of it away. I believe it's banned in most countries...

I finished Held Captive (the story of Elizabeth Smart) and was so outraged by the fucked-up Morman religon, that my mom loaned me STOLEN INNOCENCE. The story of Elissa Wall who was raised in the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints. (polygamous')

The first thing to strike my anger is a picture of her with a caption underneath that reads....
"Several weeks after my wedding I recieved an encouragment box for my 15th birthday. Inside was a baby doll, and though no one said a word, the message was clear: the pressure was on for me to have children."

I was actually a bit torn when I got it since it strait up says 'not authorized by Stephen King or any related entity', but there's actually some surprisingly interesting information in it. Hmmm! Cool!
