a question for the auto buffs in the house

Post by -deathboy- »

so, i sold my van on tuesday, but since i have never sold a vehicle before, i didn't realize i needed to get the address and full name of the gentleman who bought it. he paid cash and i signed the title over and he drove off. he lives somewhere here in monroe, i know that much, but where is anyones guess. i need to file the report of sale, but on the dol site it says i must have all info and there are severe penalties for filing a fraudulent report.

i know, i'm a dumbass, but what do i do in this case?

i can't possibly be the first dumbass in washington state that has done this can i?

I don't know specifics, but I suggest you go to your local Licensing center and ask what to do. I am sure they probably have a form of some kind that covers it.

unfortunately i tried that route and was provided with "well you have to have the address."

she suggested just filling it in as "unknown", but that scares me due to the prison sentence penalties for fraud.

I have sold probably fifty vehicles in this state over the course of my lifetime and have never once sent in that form.

It might be more of a problem for him.

The guy that bought it has to register it with licensing and get new plates. If you have the VIN number I would go to Licensing to see if they are willing to track it for you.

they did track it for me, but i like pat's idea. i just don't like the thought of tickets on my record. specially considering i haven't even driven in 5 freakin years! if i'm gonna get tickets, i'd at least like the pleasure of obtaining them myself. but i'f ol boy is going to drive it, i know he needs tabs! they were 04, mwuahahahahaha...
