Things to do in S.F./Bay Area

Post by IRONDICK »

So I am going to the above listed area from the 10th-17th of June with my mom so she can visit her mom. I already have plans for the 12th which is going to see Testament and Lazz Rockit at the Fillmore but other than that I don't want to hang with the old folks to much so if you all could give me some ideas of cool bars/clubs in that area it would be appreciated.

Fun things to do in San Francisco
1. Do Drugs.
2. Be Gay.
3. Eat Rice-a-roni

I saw Testement at the Fillmore in '94 or '95. Great venue, from what I remember.

I was just there in April. Check out Zeitgeist in the Mission District... it's a cool dive bar that sort of reminds me of The Funhouse in Seattle. Zeitgeist has awesome burgers and a huge outdoor area in the back. Smoke whatever you want back there, but don't take your camera out. Trust me, I learned the hard way.

DO NOT FORGET TO GO TO AMOEBA RECORDS!!!!!!! Seriously, cannot stress this enough. It's by far and away the greatest record store I've ever seen. The metal section gave me wood and they had a bunch of chillout ambient stuff from the UK I'd been searching for that I couldn't even ever find online.

Other than that, just wander around. The city really isn't that big, everything is very condensed and close together so you can get anywhere relatively quickly via bus or the BART or even walking if it's nice out. I saw Mastodon at The Great American Music Hall while I was down there too. Awesome, awesome venue. GO there if there's anything worth seeing.
