Thanks to the current economic slum and the collapsed real-estate market in Las Vegas, I just bought a condo behind the Bellagio for about $40 a square foot. I'm getting on a plane tomorrow to sign the papers. It's 100 degrees and there are thousands of swimming pools full of nearly-naked chicks. Fuck this rain!
Seriously, if any of you know someone looking to take advantage of the bottom of the market and jump back into real estate, Vegas is the place to be right now. A couple of months ago, they were giving it away down there. The turn-around has just started and I actually had to outbid a couple of other people for this place. The banks own half the condos in town and they're trying to get out from under them. You can find listings all over starting at about $20k. You couldn't buy an abandoned outhouse in Seattle for that kind of money.
Unfortunately, I can't actually live there full time because my business is up here, but I'm damned sure going to be in the sunbelt any time there are weeks of rain on the horizon in Seattle! The rest of the time I'll probably rent it out by the week.
