I love really old school rap and hip hop. I mean like 2 Live Crew, Ton Loc, plus a few more modern people. Snoop, Dre, shit like that.

Most rap is hideous.

I do like NWA, public enemy, 2-live crew, and 80's Run-DMC though. Rap was in its groundbreaking stage then, so nobody realized how bad it sucked in those early days. By the time we realized it, those 80's rappers had already grown on us... *sigh*...

I dig some good hip hop. Mostly the heavily sampled stuff. Mostly more than a decade ago...

De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Black Sheep, Leaders Of The New School, 3rd Bass, Ice-T, Public Enemy, Run DMC, Fresh Prince, Tone Loc, Young MC, Digable Planets, US3, Arrested Development, Atmosphere, Common.

I can tolerate the older acts but the garbage that is around today is intolerable. Shit like G-Unit, 50 Cent and Lil' John is so fucking terrible that I cannot see any aesthetic value to any of it, not even in a 'I kinda see why other people may like it' way.

Jungle Brothers... Girl I'll House You... you in my hut now.. my hut!

De La Soul... Me, Myself and I...

Who else was good back then... KRS-One and BDP... Big Daddy Kane... Nice and Smooth... Gangstar... AGH! I'm having 80's flashbacks... MAKE IT STOP!!!

I did thoroughly enjoy old school rap(RUN-DMC,N.W.A.,Public Enemy,Boogie Down Productions,Ice-T,Ice Cube, early Snoop Dogg,Erik B. and Rakim,Boo-Yah Tribe,3rd. Base)back in the day, when rap was really about what's happening in both real life and the streets, for now it's about elaborate dance parties and material greed, which has really helped kill rap for me.

Too bad that Dr. Dre didn't get to resurrect N.W.A. with Ice Cube,MC Ren,and Snoop(in Eazy's role),for that would have indeed been the motherfucking shit that would have put every rapper to sheer shame(that motherfucking bitch Eminem!!!),and really took rap to another level(instead of its current commericalized pop muzak status).

yeaup !
started with a demo of mix-a-lot in high school pre s.w.a.s.s. that some female gave me. then run dmc and ll cool j. when i heard public enemy's "she watch channel zero" i was hooked for life. some of my favorites are:

ice cube "lethal injection"
public enemy "it takes a nation of millions"
flatlinerz "whatever the hell the name of that album is"
ludacris "chicken and beer"
mix-a-lot "chief boot knocka"
and, in my opinion, the greatest rap album of all time :
insane poetry "grim reality"

we even used to do a death metal cover of tone loc's "wild thing" !
