New additions to bands

Post by Project Undead Vish »

I have been listening to a lot of Cannibal Corpse lately and have been comparing Chris Barnes albums to the George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher albums. I think that Cannibal Corpse is better sounding with Corpsegrinder. This made me start thinking about other bands that became better when they replaced somebody in a band. Another band that came to mind was Drowning Pool getting better with their new singer.

Soooooooooooo, I was wondering, what bands do you think started to improve/suck after they replaced a singer/drummer/guitarist/bassist/etc.?

I thought the Beatles with the new Paul were way better then the Beatles with the first Paul. That's a "Paul is dead" joke.......

Ummmm, well honestly I thought that when GNR replaced Steven Adler it made the band suck ass and I still do. Matt Sorum needs to die. On the other hand, I really enjoyed Buckethead when he was in the band and I didn't miss Slash at all. It added a really cool element to the old songs, and the new songs are off the charts.

Metallica is an obvious one, but people seem to be torn on wether member changes have been good for them or not.

metallica is a hard one for me, because my favorite metallica album was the first one with jason, and i dug the black album as well. the only pre-newstead album i liked was puppets. but you cant deny the legend that is cliff burton. as for the rest of the metallica albums after the black one, they are obviously crap. and then they took it a step further when they got the guy from suicidal tendancies.

Yeah. I like all of their stuff with the exception of the last three albums. I liked one song off of Load and one song off of Reload, but that;s it.

I like Robert Trujillo as a bass player and as a presence, but he's the only thing I like about them anymore. They're just a bunch of crybaby bitches now.

I don't think emotions are bad, but the way they express them leaves a little to be desired.

Off the top of my head...

Nile was better with Jon Vesano as frontman than Chief. They've now lost Jon and Dallas took over most of the main vocals. He's really good but Jon had a badass stage presence. Mean looking fucker. Nice as hell though.

Sepultura without Max need to call it a fucking day.

Exodus with whoever the new vocalist is < with Steve Souza.

Cannibal Corpse without Jack Owen and Soulfly without Mickey Dooling and Marcello Diaz simply because I miss my friends coming into town on tour.
I made the Devil do it.

Anthrax started to really suck just before Joey Belladonna left, then got pretty good for John Bush's first album, then began the further descent into suckiness. It's not Bush's fault though, the songs just weren't very good. But he should be concentrating on Armored Saint now that Belladonna's back.

Cannibal Corpse are definitely way way better with Corpsegrinder. They went from having the worst vocalist in death metal to the best, and the songwriting improved considerably. And interestingly Monstrosity, the band Corpsegrinder was in prior to Cannibal Corpse, released the best album of their career after Corpsegrinder left.

bands that never suffered following lineup changes: Death, Annihilator, Overkill, Kataklysm, Sinister, Suffocation.
I have to return some videotapes.

i wonder how "butchered at birth" would have sounded with corpsegrinder ? barnes was the epitome of a death metal vocalist on that one. question #2 : why does barnes suck so atrociously now a days ?

That Six Feet Under band is a piece of shit. It is just watered down, shitty, groove riff laiden death metal. It is half assed and lazy. They did a song with Ice T, how fucking lame is that? I hate that god damn band. On top of that I heard Terry Butler took death out on tour without Chuck, what a cunt. They should spend less time smoking weed and being dumb shits and more time realizing that they are a joke.

i agree with you 120% on that one. i can't stand six feet under. but, i think "butchered" is an absolute masterpiece of gorework. which featured chris barnes. hence my question as to how someone who had one of the best death vocals in the industry could end up as such a washed out piece of shit ??

i was a big fan of sfu for quite a while... i think that their first album is still a great album and it is one of my all time favorites. but yeah, why the fuck does chris barnes suck so much brown eye now? i have heard a version of corpse grinder doing hammer smashed face and he does a great job of it, his voice is far superior than barnes's voice is.
