:skull:

I saw Mother Love Bone, RIP Andy, on that stage. If they are changing the atmosphere of the Central slowly, one painful bone crunching local music genocide action at a time..... if they want to keep up with the hip hop jones' clubs around the area, KARMA is the only word I have to say.

Loyal fans of local Seattle music deserve a hellva lot more respect than this....and the local Seattle musicians should not even have to deal with this kinda sheeaot.

Peace out.

It seems like Guy or whoever is really running that place really don't know what the hell they are doing. . . .I know that Guy tends to make business decisions in a reacationary way. I have seen it with bartenders, cocktail servers, and now a great sound guy. . .

I just hope that Daniel finds employment quickly in a manner worthy of his talent.

I heard from someone that still works there that on a few nights they have brought in a skating ramp and have skaters performing while a DJ "spins". I guess it's only a matter of time before some skater cracks his head open and sues Guy when he can't afford his medical bills.

jenzy - your new picture reflects a loss? I feel for you sweet girl.

bleez - are you tyring to promote the skater night??? Now that I need to see!

In all honesty, the problem at The Central has been something going on for a long while now. The PA system sucks, the bands sound crappy- MINE INCLUDED - I am not bashing, patrons who are not our friends do not want to hang around for that. Some nights I HAD to stay outside because the sound inside was so horrible. That place is just not suited for live and loud music at all. The room is shit, the PA is shit and quite frankly, not even Bob Rock could make a band sound great in there. The last time I ventured in, the sound was muddy... the high end just ripping and bouncing off the cieling and walls. Horrible. They even started turning down the bands which took all the energy out of seeing a metal show. Just crappy. If you play metal and want to play loud and sound good, play rooms that offer what you need. There are way more places than The Central to play. If the guy will not spend money to host loud music, then fuck them... go play Studio 7 on Monday nights. Does Tracy even do anything on that particular night? he may be open to something if approached properly. It just seems lazy to be bitching about what an owner wants to do with his club rather than finding another place that might be better suited! Nostalgia is good, but let it go, the place is old as shit, deteriorating even and needs someone who can overhaul it and exterminate the rats.

Wow. I'm actually shocked by how RETARDED that sounds.

Don't worry, i know i entirely missed the point :D

I just don't know much about the central or the stuff going on so i have nothing of use to contribute. From what's been said here, it sounds like fuckin' bullshit though.

well, it has served the metal scene in Seattle well. I just think it is time for the bands that are used to playing there, to move on. I want to go see some of my friends and bands I personally like, but the Central just makes us all suck and it sucks to be there when everything sounds gay and a rat is running around. And I miss going out on Mondays and having somewhere to go where you can hear some good metal and see your pals. You know!

I am being silly about the rat, but he too was a piont at one point!

Agreed 100%

My various bands in the past have had the pleasure of working with Daniel. Sucks that he lost that job. But I've always figured he was a great guy, decent soundguy, working with shitty room and shitty sound system. He did the best he could with it.. which was shit. That was part of the appeal for Mondays. Go there, drink cheep beer, listen to horrible sounding music. Been going to the Central for years and years, so it does feel like home. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a private business where the owner has the right of deciding how to make money.
Take a picture, trick. I'm on a boat, bitch.

so i guess people where dropping in on the half pipe and eating shit into the tables now that some shit i got to see me i never got the feel for the central....so i don't mourn your loss.........~

Exactly!! How many other venues have suffered this exact same fate? I don't know for sure, but it's been more than a few.

How's that old saying go? When one douchbag closes a door, some other dicknose opens another?

I see it as more reason for us(Enkrya) to focus our attention on getting into some other venues, and booking more outside of Seattle altogether.

Soon it will all be just a distant memory. Just like Doc's. Just like The Fenix.

I love The Central just as much as the next guy, but I really don't think anything we could try to do as a group will change anyone's mind. Shit happens...

So, the sound system is shit and it's a crappy hole in the wall? I don't feel comfortable at any of the other venues that are frequented by the bands that I like to see (that one down on Airport Way was cool though). And, yes, I understand that times are rough. The square, in general, is going to hell. I know Guy has the right to do what he feels he needs to do to fix the situation. It still sucks, in my eyes. I've been going to The Central for about 8 years now. I am not in a band. I am a patron and it feels like a part of my life is being destroyed by the new super managment.

As for last Wednesday, I know what S2C should sound like at The Central and I know that the new sound dude ruined them. It was physically painful & I would have asked for my money back, if I had paid. ;) I'm also still pissed about that Enkrya/Motley Crue cover band debacle.

And what are these other venues? Seriously. Studio 7? Great. I love the stage there, but it lacks the right atmosphere and I fail to relax while I'm there. I only go there if I really like a band. I know I'm not alone on this. El Corazon? Ugh. I guess it's a little better these days, but still...just don't like that place. Ummm...Maggie O'Tooles? Sweet. I love driving an hour to see bands. That makes for an expensive evening. Uhhh...I dunno, I'm at a loss people. Where? The High Dive is cool. Does anyone play there? The Blue Moon? When's the last time someone played there? Goofy's (my new home away from home)? Their stage is small and the sound sucks there too (I love you Dave, it's not your fault). The Tractor Tavern? I'm out of the loop and I need to know where the music is!! Help?

*sigh* I knew it was only a matter of time before y'all left us. That's just one more reason for me to leave Seattle sooner rather than later. ;) I'm looking at you Portland! :D

I say someone contact the FUNHOUSE to do the Monday Metal madness thing. They just upgraded their sound system, they have a great outdoor patio thing to smoke, drink, and even play Basketball. I know Brian Foss who books their and if someone was serious about it i could start the conversations......................

Irrylath - it was a nice place to hang out and see people but we can that somewhere else that actually has a reason to help make the bands sound good.

[quote="Six6VI"]You mean you can't hire your own sound guy at The Central??? Or is it just this particular guy they've banned (sorry, I'm the outta towner and don't really know the cat)? That's one of the weirdest things I've ever heard.

Yeah, the club doesn't dictate who helps you load your gear, right? Or who helps you sell merch? If he hasn't been 86'd from the establishment entirely, then there shouldn't be a problem hiring him for your sound, in my opinion. And if he has, then fuck the Central.

The heyday for the Central has been gone for years. In fact, looking back now, it wasn't all that great then either. More of a convenient location to mask a hard and/or stagnant life with tons of alcohol and loud, unlistenable live music played by fellow local musicians. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I don't think it's something worth clinging for dear life to.

There are other watering holes, other local stages. Funhouse. The Comet. Goofy's. Jules Maes (geogetown). Pick one and make it your's for the next 5 years.

As for Daniel, a soundguy is only as good as his equipment and stage. He'll flourish somewhere else, I'm sure.
