I think the evil one is confused.

"Guess where I won't be..." ;)

I got a mad project going on at work that I can't miss time on. And since I'm contract I don't get PTO.

There's a stupid baseball game tonight (mariners) so we're gonna get an early start. I suggest everyone else do the same.

Good times last night! Great to see some friendly faces! It was really cool seeing the Braindead again! Those guys tore it up! I really dug Fallen Angels too! Brad has a killer voice! Not a great turnout but it was a Tues. Overall it was a fun night!

FORBIDDEN was fckng killer!!!! I haven't seen them since 1992 and it was cool seeing Steve Symth kick ass live again in the aftermath of his Nevermore days.

The ever-sexy Evil Red was looking hot as always which leaves me somewhat speechless and nervous in her presence.

Kick ass show and I'm glad I didn't miss this one. I couldn't help but wonder though after going to a series of metal shows in the last couple of years where the turn-out is pretty weak all things considered, that if metal ever dies, it will ultimately be the result of lack of hardcore fans. I don't even know how most bands can even tour at this point, when nobody buys t-shirts, the attendance is pathetic at best and everyone is downloading music for free on the internet. I grew up in an era before the internet when if you wanted to see a band you liked live, you couldn't do that in 5.2 seconds by searching for them on Youtube, and if you wanted to hear their music and it wasn't on the radio, you had to actually go buy a CD, etc It's great though that bands like Forbidden can at least deliver like they did last night and on the level they did.

It sort of kills the magic of it all doesn't it?

Exactly - the magic being: maybe being able to see one video on Headbanger's Ball from a band you liked or just got into and wanting more. Going to a CD store and finding their discs and holding them in your hand looking at the cover artwork and buying them, then listening to them while looking through the CD booklet and remaining artwork, reading the credits and everything on the last page and then sending a money order into the fan club for an occasional newsletter and sticker, etc

Waiting for their next video to debut, while flipping through the pages of Metal Maniacs and tearing full color pages out and taping them to your wall and then hearing about their tour dates and actually going to see real human beings play the same material live, and in a setting where everyone is psyched to be there, and the band actually has a tour bus because the label is making enough money selling CDs to pay for one and discovering new bands that are opening for them instead of spending a few minutes on their myspace page or downloading music that took them months to write and record and studio time to be paid - that you just push a button to get online for free.

It was a simpler time, and in a way a better time.
