N.U.D.E. Fest | Saturday | $5

Post by horhey »

$5 joint cover

WHAT: N.U.D.E. (North University District Experiment)
WHEN: Saturday, August 29th
WHERE: Blue Moon, Monkey Pub, Cafe Racer, Galway Arms
WHEN: 5 p.m. - bars close (and whatever happens after)
WHY: In which seemingly every neighborhood has at least one festival of rock & roll madness for the masses, the University District is often left out. N.U.D.E. is subtle attempt to rectify the situation. Despite not being known as one of the city's musical meccas, establishments such as the Blue Moon, the Monkey Pub, and the Galway Arms have been offering up-and-coming bands a chance to get their foot in the door. (Take a look at the Polaroids at the Monkey Pub to get an idea.) The venues remain loved (or loathed) by many of their alumni. N.U.D.E. will feature everything from established artists such as Sub Pop's Kinski retaking the stage at the Monkey Pub and lesser known acts rowdying up their favorite neighborhood drinking holes.

WHO:
BLUE MOON
Shining Ones (heavy and slow from members of Lesbian & Hemingway)
Wah Wah Exit Wound (triumphant prog-o-fusion)
Rad Touch (the touch that is rad)

MONKEY PUB
Fortress of Victory (boy/girl old school crust fun)
Sean (virtuostic keyboard prog-grind)
The Everchanging Sky (singer-songwriter post-rock)
Peripherals (stoned to the bone in the '20s)
Kinski (the heavyweight dose)

GALWAY ARMS
John Wayne Autopsy (nightmare soundscapes)
Barefoot Barnacle (super-tech metal fun)
Hunab Ku (super metalprog freakout for the Patton set)

CAFE RACER
The Neon Sea (out of town loop action)
Brad Dunn (indie-rock's wildest wet dream)
Andrew McInnis (bearded harmolodic smiles)
Corespondents (post-modern klezmer jazz)
God's Favorite Beefcake (good ol' fashion pickin' and playin')

Cool idea... The U-district has always sucked for shows and I have no idea why.

You two are fucking high. It sounds like a great idea but I have been to great jams that the Rainbow held every Tuesday in the late 90,s. Skerik, Matt Chamberlain, members of Screeming Trees ,Pearl Jam and Mudhoney. Let's not forget the King Of Funk Mourice.

Have a great show and most importantly, have fun.

I'm guessing this is why the naked bicycle riders were out this afternoon.
Twitter... because texting whilst driving isn't dangerous enough...
"Almost ran over a bicyclist because he didn't stop at the stop sign, idiot."
"Oops, ran over a bicyclist while writing that last twit."
