Anybody been to venue up there?
Hey Evil Red. . . you seen shows up there, any suggestions on hotels or spots to drink?
First of all, which venue is it at? (There's an awseome little place that's actually frustratingly and fucking stupidly named
The Venue.) But I'm guessing this is at either GM Place or BC Stadium.
Both are nice, huge and expensive inside as expected, but the alcohol rules are much more liberal than our stadiums. They're also walking distance from Granville.
The best value and largest/nicest room I've found so far is at The Best Western ~ Chateau Granville. We stayed in the back. They have these seperate 'cottages' in the alley from the actual hotel and I'd definitley go there again.

There's a killer Korean BBQ and Sushi just a few blocks up and over on Burrard St.
http://www.shabusen.com/ (It's directly across from a highrise building with the address of 666.
)
There's a yummy little pizza by the slice that's good for drunk, late night close to the hotel on Granville. Block or two up. Good calzones too. I forget the name, Olie's maybe? They have this wierd sounding sesame seed crust, but it's really good. If it has seeds, you're at the right place.
And I always seem to end up at Ceili's Irish Pub & Restaurant since it's often next door to where I'm going on the corner of Smithe and Granville, but there's a ton of Irish Pubs along the way.
If you plan on picking up any Canadian goodies while you're there, Costco is smack across GM, underground. 'Bunker Costco.' They have Kirkland Brand muscle relaxers. 80 for like 4 bucks! Best prices for Codiene too.
And lastly, off the top of my head I have the best driving directions if you need too.
(Using Peace Arch to Granville Island)
North. (I-5 turns into Hwy 99, hwy 99 turns in to Oak St.)
Left @ 41 St.
Right @ Granville St.
North till you cross the bridge and voila!
Hotel is on right about two blocks up from bridge.
(Also, don't order mixed drinks. The alcohol is regemented with a shot glass and crazy spendy. No free hand pouring allowed. Bring your own across if you want it. One bottle only.)
