I actually attended a meeting recently. It feels pretty familiar.
The initiatives are similar, banding together to get around shady promoters and giving a big middle finger to "pay to play", sharing resources, building up the scene, etc.
It's still in it's infancy as an organization.

A bunch of bands started something like that down here in Oregon - I5 Band Coalition. We'll see how it goes. It reminded me of something similar, as well...

The first thing I saw was the word "calendar" misspelled. Twice. I forget, is spelling metal?
