OK, so I got a little bored tonight so I made up some cell phone ringtones for anyone interested. I have Torn, Blinded by greed, and in league with satan. They are on the Music/Lyrics page. They are in MP3 format but I'm working on MIDI versions for older phones.

Of course if no one is interested let me know so I can take them off.

Thanks

I have to admit, I don't own a cell phone so I don't know. The best place to look is in your user guide for the phone. From what I have learned, most cell phones will play at least a MIDI (or polyphonic) ringtone. I am working on a way to convert MP3s to polyphonic for the older phone users. Also, there is usually a way to hook your phone up to a computer to download the files to it. In a lot of cases you might need a special cable for this to work, or do it through a bluetooth connection.

I will do some more research on this so I can give everyone a better answer, but I think the user guide will be the best way to find this out.

OK, So I'm thinking if I know what phone everyone has, I can find the user guide and see if it's possible. In most cases you will either need the have internet access to download the file directly to your phone, or have a cable that connects your phone to a computer via USB. I talked to a guy about this and that's about the only way.

So let's start with the phones that everyone has and I'll do the research (heck I posted them, I should do the work :0)

I'm working on it. I found a cool website that shows me all the phones and what they are capable of doing. So far it's not looking good for the MP3s. For example, Jenzy's phone is 'Polyphonic' only. Which means it will only play MIDI ringtones. What I still have to find is a list of all the phones that WILL do MP3 ringtones and post that. Then work on MIDI versions of the BrainDead songs so eveyone can use them.

As for how to install them on the phone, it can only be done 3 ways]www.samsung.com[/url] (P/N: PKT133LBEG/STD) that will work. It's about $80 though. Plus it's 'Serial' and a lot of computers don't have serial connections anymore. If her computer doesn't have a serial connection this means getting another cable to hook up to USB. Those can cost around $40. So by the time you get into this for your phone it's gonna cost $130 just to download a simple ringtone. I'm not sure it's worth it.

What do you all think?

Irrylath,

Good News!, You actually have a phone that will work. Here's the description on your phone:

http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=417

Motorola sells the cable for your phone here:

http://motorola.digitalriver.com/servle ... 0&Env=BASE

It's $60, but it's USB so that's all you would have to spend to use the BrainDead ringtones (or any MP3 ringtone for that matter).

So it's not so bad. :0)

Jenzy, If you can use "Real Tones" and you can get on the internet then yeah that should work. Can you navigate to our 'PDA Friendly' site? Here's the address if you can:

http://www.thebraindead.com/PDA_Web/Music_PDA.htm

If you can download you should be able to get them right from the site. Let me know if that works.

Russ here is a tut for Samsung phones. I'm not sure if it will work for all models but give it a try. I have done this before with my last band, I have a Sanyo, but I have to look for the software. If anyone has a Sanyo let me know and I'll try to hook you up. tones

Thanks Dion, this will come in handy. This might just work for Jenzy's phone.
