Some Titles and Thoughts

Post by Kimberly »

So this week starts the Japanese Outlaw Masters 5 at The Egyptian. All the films showing land on my work days... the bastards. So before I go and either get someone to cover my shift or call in with a case of the *funzies* I'd like to hear if anyone has thoughts on some of these titles... cause before I lose a days pay at work I want to make sure it's worth it...

Suicide Club
Graveyard of Honor
Bounce Ko Gals
Porno Star
Black Angel 2
Stray Cat Rock- Sex Hunter
Underworld Beauty
Tattooed Life
Visitor Q
Blackmail is My Life
Red Peony Gambler- Flower Cards Match
Theater of Life- Hishakaku & Kiratsune

Thanks in advance for any info about any of these...

Films

Post by ROBERT »

I would say Visitor Q and Graveyard Of Honor would probably be the best bets. You can't beat whacked out Mr Miike. I have Suicide Circle, on DVD. Many people are split over that film. It has some amazing setpieces, like 50 Japanese schoolgirls commiting suicide by jumping headlong into an oncoming subway train. And assorted slashy gore sequences. A woman cutting into her hand for example. But I don't believe it's plot about a cult of children planting messages, causing people to commit suicide was the least bit plausable. Even for a horror film. People that love it, complain that "I didn't get it." I did. I just didn't buy it. I can't help you with the other films. Try these guys, http://www.KFCCinema.com
"I don't want to be called an "artist." "Acting like an "artist" is synonymous to acting like an asshole."

God damn it! I can't seem to keep up with Miike, that guy is a fucking machine! Just when I think I've seen his latest, it turns out that he's produced and released three more pictures since.

So which is Graveyard of Honor?

Okies this is what it says in the monthly calander for The Egyptian...

Graveyard of Honor (Shin Jingi No Hakaba) 2002, Daiei, 131min, Enfant terrible director Takashi Miike's (Audition) remake of the 1976 Kinji Fukasaku- helmed classic, about a sociopathic gangster who can't even get along with his fellow hoodlums.

That's all it says...
