Takashi Miike's "Dead or Alive" on DVD-R

Post by Valgamon » Wed Dec 12, 2001 9:42 am

FYI - $29.99 at http://www.diabolikdvd.com

here's some info:

This collector-to-collector DVD of Dead or Alive was carefully mastered from a pristine letterboxed international source, digitally hand subtitled, and encoded with 16:9 enhancement and Dolby Digital (matrixed surround, not 5.1). Even the Japanese trailer is included for your viewing pleasure (although it hasn't been subtitled)!

The DVD has been authored with over 25 individual chapter points, and comes in a jewel case with full color artwork.

Please note: this disc is shipped as a DVD-R, a high quality medium that is entirely compliant with the original DVD specification. Some players, however, are not as compliant with the spec as the disc is! Almost all "2nd generation" DVD players work fine, as do 95+% of players manufactured after 1999, including the Sony Playstation 2. Many earlier players work fine as well (all mine do). It will play perfectly on fully compatible players (the Playstation seems especially good at this, believe it or not).

righteous find, Valg... I will definitely be picking that up!

couldn't help but notice that they also have IKU for Region 2 players. If you can do region 2 and want to see one of the weirdest softcore pornos ever (it includes some pretty god CGI and art direction if you can believe it) definitely look that one up.

did you get my email, by the way?

I was wonderin' why everyone cared about this, but then wondered why it'd be subtitled...this ISN'T that one with the guy that like a cop or something that was all written, directed, and starring one guy? And then he made a sequel? DId I confuse titles here?

138: Nah... different movie. This Dead or Alive is about Triads, Yakuza and cops. Great movie with one of the most unexpected endings you can EVER think of. I just about shit my pants when that finale came.

It's a good thing this boot has been released. This is one of my favorite Miike movies based just on the ending and the only copy I have is pretty rough. I'm definitely going to pick this one up.

I wonder who is behind this? Other than Video Shit, the only one I know of who's been subbing this sort of thing is Adam Coates. If it's him, I want my cut b/c he got the script from me! LOL Oh well, I've had the subtitles for my DVD for quite some time now so I suppose we're even. Image
