What happened to everyone?

Post by Darth Tanner »

I've noticed lately that many of our regulars seem to be "missing in action". Shawn seems to have been gone for a long time (plus his site hasn't been updated in awhile) so I'm starting to worry. Same with Rich, Davis and Aylmer. Matt, Dark Knight, Gothbat and Ian have also been gone for ages. What happened to everyone?!? Are they just lurking around, or have they vanished from the earth? I seriously doubt there can be a forum any better than this one. If anyone knows where they are, please fill me in. Hopefully they will make their way back here eventually. I also haven't seen much of Baron Blood lately. Please tell me he's still alive Image

On the subject of missing persons, I also noted on the Abyss that our favorite flamers from last year (Flesh Cutter and Danny Boy) have also been gone awhile. But can anyone honestly say that those two are missed? Image

Shawn's just working hard on his businesses, not much time for posting I guess. How do I know? I just did updates to the Rotten Cotton site for him Image Baron Blood posted a reply to the thread about Chuck Schuldiner death in Earcandy so he's still alive as well. As far as the others go, who the heck knows.

Ian pretty much dropped off the face of the planet. he doesn't answer his old email account, his old phone number isn't his anymore, and i haven't seen any newsgroup posts ANYWHERE from him. I know him and his wife split up, but i dunno what happened after that. perhaps she owned the computer?

I'm not as much a 'regular' as some of you old timers, but I still stop in pretty regularly. I've just been in lurk mode lately.

I have to admit, in a weird sort of way, I actually do kind of miss Flesh Cutter! The only time he really pissed me off is when he simply wouldn't let that one flame war die when it had very obviously LONG since ceased to be interesting. Other than that, he kind of cracked me up, even if he couldn't see that Daughter of Darkness is so much better than Red to Kill! LOL

Oh well, I guess people just come and go. But you're right, I've just never seen any other board I'd care to go to so I guess you're all stuck with me. Most other boards I've seen all seem to have either too many idiots, too many forums, too many rules, etc...

Wish I could post more, but most of my time is taken up by work and school. Whatever is left is spent on other interests, although Mortado's is probably the nicest forum for us movie geeks (don't cry...I mean it affectionately) out there right now.

However, I wish that Baron Blood would make a glorious comeback. But I understand the reasons, and it may be some time before we see Sunderland again.

Now I'm worried Bruce. I knew Ian hadn't been around, but I had no idea it was that bad. I haven't seen a post from him on here in nearly a year. But I was really worried when I noticed he was no longer co-moderating the Euro-Fringe forum with you on Horrorspeak. Jeez that's pretty rough. I hope he resurfaces eventually along with the others. In fact, if you want to get nostalgic just look at the Rogues Gallery and look at the once-familiar faces. It seems like almost half of those people are long gone. And what happened to Dave Kosanke? He was pretty cool to have around here. But I haven't seen anything from him in well over a year (his last post as I recall was about the release of GODZILLA 2000). But at least there are still the loyal die-hards who hang in there Image

BTW, anyone notice that there are supposedly 372 registered members here? I bet more than half of those are people who are long gone.

I saw Dave Kosanke at the Milwaukee Metalfest last summer, he seemed to be doing pretty well. Since I was working I unfortunately didn't have time to hang with him.

Many of the 372 registered members came on after I started hosting Seattle Metal Online's forum. Out of all the people there only one person (I am 138) seems to venture out into Horrornews.

Horror and local music are my two favorite topics. Good board set up for me.

i talk to Dave Kosanke on a regular basis and he's now a welcome part of our new and improved Team Ultra Violent. You'll be able to read his reviews in upcoming issues (including the horribly delayed issue 4 which'll actually be going to the printers by the end of the week!). He's been working a lot and recently bought a widescreen tv.

And I wouldn't worry about Ian, he's a cool guy and i'm sure we haven't seen the last of him.

Call me a pussy, but my inner voice (no, not the one with the lisp) tells me I should let someone else be the guinea pig before checking out that link. Thanks all the same, Shawn.

Griff, don't ask questions, just watch.

Shawn, I have never laughed so hard at 6am than I did this morning. Thanks. How the hell did you find that?

It won't play for me... I get a sense of a crowded concert hall and it just stops there. What happens?

It's Yatta... a weird boy bands meets Village People song from a Japanese comedy show. It's incredibly odd.

I warn you, the song will not leave your head for DAYS!

I sent that to my friend in Tokyo who in turn showed it to one of her coworkers who's Japanese. She said she's "very embarassed for Japan". I think it says alot when a thriving scat-porn industry doesn't make you hang your head in shame, but this does! LOL

I manage to find my way in every so often. Rare as it may be. I look around some and see who is still about and what's being discussed and try to leave quietly without upseting the order of things in horrornews by posting. Oh... Damn. Ah well. Image

Later.

I haven't been here in quite some type, I don't have my own computer unfortunately and my housemate's computer isn't hooked up to the internet. I'm a chef in training at The Culinary Institute Of Canada at the moment, not too much time for anything else except drinking on the weekends and talk to my girlfriend on the phone. Surprising to see if someone remembers me. This computer won't play the funny file unfortunately, shitty.

Well, well, not one but two posters from the old days making a dubious return!

Rich, I believe your pic is still up in the Rogue's Gallery, wherever that is.
