Yeah, a lot of the "new footage" in NOTLD 30 is of the first zombie played by Bill Hinzman. First you see his origin when he jumps out of a coffin and they also have an ending that shows him being killed. But contrary to what people have been saying on the net, there are NO scenes of Beekman's Diner. The only mention of Beekman's Diner is in the added zombie scenes (one of the zombies is a waitress wearing the Beekman's logo on her apron). No Latte, this new footage does not blend in at all with the original film. In fact these new scenes are almost like watching TV with the color turned down (or else watching something on an old black&white TV). If the new footage isn't bad enough, there is that godawful new music that totally ruins the mood of the film. I actually saw this a few years ago (someone loaned me a copy) and I've been trying to rid my mind of it ever since. What a disgrace! If you haven't seen this yet....do yourself a favor and don't.

I feel like we've done everything but pick up our torches and go storm this guys house! John Russo is not popular on this board, to say the least.

Or on other boards as well. He's been on the receiving end of a lot of justified anger. I wonder if he realizes this? Probably. Heh,reminds me of the time Shawn Smith approached his table at a convention, and told him and Hinzman, what he thought of them! I think Shawn,is just one of many.

Shawn definitely is one of many. I don't know many people who haven't told Hinzman and Russo to suck a fat one. In my opinion, these two fucks (alongside their cohorts Scott Vladimir Licina and Debbie Rochon) have pissed all over any good will horror fans might've had for them with their continued disgracing of Romero's zombie legacy. I haven't seen CHILDREN OF THE DEAD and probably never will. I trust Tom Savini enough to know this movie sucks..and that's all there is to it.

Hack? Seeing as everything he touches (with the exception of the original NIGHT, to a lesser degree the remake and RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD) seems to have that definable Russo charm, wouldn't he qualify as an auteur? Albiet, an auteur of shit but an auteur none the less...

That's my theory, anyway.

An interesting link to an e-mail from the director that really sheds light on how something as shit as this can get made:

Pretty fucking sad. Karen Wolf certainly won't make another horror film. Russo and Hinzman can deny it, all they want. Children has their incompetance written all over it.They're names mean shit with fans. We can now add Wolf's name, to the shitlist. Anyone notice that the supposedly "Original Character" of zombie Abbot Hays is actually a direct copy of Warren Publishing's caretaker zombie from the comic Creepy? I smell a lawsuit, on the horizon.

man... I really feel bad for Tor Ramsey. I hope his name isn't on the print. He should have an Alan Smithee attached to it. A movie like that is the kind that destroys careers.

I fell into the trap with this one, just the living dead theme in general made it look like it had promise but I'm afraid not. The beginning was actually pretty good with Savini jumping around shooting the shit out of the zombies. After the beginning the movie just sank, too bad, the gore effects weren't the worst I've seen that's for sure.

Alright, I know I should have known better....but I decided to rent this flick today just to see how bad it was. There are always certain bad movies I just have to see in the hope they would be considered "so bad they're good". Unfortunately, CHILDREN OF THE LIVING DEAD is just a complete waste of time, money and materials. The first fifteen minutes with Savini were OK, but all of that stuff has been done better in the original NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (not to mention DAWN OF THE DEAD). But I should have stopped after that because the rest of the movie was just painful. It was a real chore to sit through it without hitting fast-forward. Watching this was like watching a bad episode of REAL WORLD instead of a horror film. Although this was a five-day rental, I'm seriously considering taking this back tomorrow and demanding the money back I wasted on this piece of shit. I just hope this bombs badly enough that Russo and Hinzman will finally take a hint and stay away from Romero's DEAD series for good. But somehow I doubt it Image

On a side note I also rented CUT (a recent Australian horror film with Molly Ringwald). I just hope that is better than this monstrosity I just sat through.

I actually asked for my money back, after renting it. They gave me another movie instead.
