Ed Gein

Post by Rich »

Went to rent A Beautiful Mind along with Full Metal Jacket and saw this on the shelf, it looks interesting and I'd definitely give it a try. Has anyone seen it and is it worth renting? T'anks ya'll and nice new looking board Chris! Cheers.

I haven't seen it myself (haven't seen much of anything new in a few years now), but I've heard only bad things about it.

Decent flick. Worth a rental, at the least.

Steve Railsback plays a pretty creepy Gein.

I'll echo the previous sentiments...worth a rental for sure. It's got its flaws, but if you don't get your hopes up too much, you should enjoy it just fine.

You people are being too critical. This flick was meant to be a reenactment of the last few days in the life of the real life person that the chainsaw massacre was inspired by. This is a look into the mind of the truly sick fucking mind of the mentally twisted. You should take into consideration that the shit in the movie, happened somewhere in REAL FUCKING LIFE. Movies can be more dramatically charged for the puplic, because they are created with your discomffort in mind. Ed Gein was an actual sick fuck that lost his mind, an it happened for REAL.

UGH, the film was mediocre at best. I remember someone posting this films URL on here ages ago, before it was released and I was excited about it. But to me it was a great disappointment. Sure it’s a true story but that doesn't mean the film is great. After reading a book on Ed Gein and several articles I 'm sure the film could have been made more accurately and more disturbing. It relied too much on those CG hallucinations he has about his mother, that were just lame.

On a side note, this DVD has to be the worst I have ever seen as well. The authoring is pitiful! There is a constant wave of flashy, from light to dark artifacting throughout the film that for me was very distracting. And the fact it was bare-bones and panscan! I mean when I rip DVD's to VCD my authoring is greater by far. This was truly a sad disc.

I agree with most of the responses to my post about the film after renting it, its not a must see but if your into the serial killer books, trading cards and movies then its right up your alley although Deranged (uncut) with Roberts Blossom playing Ed (although his characters name is Ezra) was much better. I would have preferred more scenes with Gein jumping around like a crazy jack-rabbit-loonie-fuck wearing the local sluts skin but oh well, you live with what you get.
