According to Fantasia Film Festival's head programmer Mitch Davis, Jim Van Bebber's Charlie's Family has acquired completion funds from the UK's Exploited video label. A completed print will be available at the American Film Market.

I heard the same thing. I am very interested in seeing how it plays with the newly shot footage and new score.

I think many people are.Myself included. The rest, after 12 fucking years, don't give a shit. Just got off the phone with a friend, who's a major indie/Euro horror nut.His response from the above news? "So what,It's redundant".

Not yet. It needs more work, first. That initial print at the American Film Market is not the final answer print.

Where's Flesh Cutter to speak on this?

Even if this movie has been a long time coming and a production disaster, I'm still a Van Bebber fan and I'd be interested to see how it plays out, though I seem to recall Shawn saying he caught a work print a while back and it was ass.

I'll have to judge it for myself.

it's a very faithful and intense recreation of the actual events, but unfortunately becomes a bit hypocritical with it's inclusion of modern day gangs murderin' for Manson... (the film purports to cast an unbiased eye on the proceedings but loses it's edge with these characters - how can you be unbiased when you make a fictional case of Manson still driving youth to kill?)

I recommend it be seen -- it's a very worthwhile film and I'm glad it'll finally see a legit release -- but definitely don't get your hopes up too high as it IS flawed.

I thought that the modern day youth killing for Manson thing was pretty damn cool but it definitely did blow the unbiased aspect out of the water.

Yeah I've got the Creation book of the Charlie's Family script, and it's a good read, jumping back and forth in time is done well with easy transition. However my main beef with the book is the author's comments about the attack on Sharon Tate wherein he states that perhaps the killing of the unborn child was a good thing because the offspring would have been a waste of humanity, or something to that effect. In summation he basically condoned the murder which I found to be in poor taste and totally without merit.

Nope, not yet. I got a somewhat recent boot a few months back from a musician who shall remain nameless on the condition that I would not trade or sell it to anyone Image It's a LOT better of a movie than the workprint I got years ago, that's for sure. I even think Shawn will like it once it's released!

I might not really dig the movie, from the workprints I have seen. But I do think from what I have heard that it will be better when its completed. Go here for the scoop on the finished film and the official t-shirt: http://www.rottencotton.com/shirts/charlies/charlies.htm
And go here to see what happens when your teenage daughters stop by the Blackest Heart Compound for some innocent fun. http://www.blackestheart.com/video/The%20Lush.mov
