This movie is one sick movie, but that's whats great about it. Graphic and realistic rape scenes. The self multilation scenes are just great. Everything about this movie is awesome. I suggest for those who haven't seen it check it out.

Can't really say that "realistic" rape scenes are necessarily a good thing.

But I do like the movie.

Actually I sort of figured it out, after just one viewing but first that fellow who likes "realistic rape scenes", dude, seriously..

Okay, not to give anything away but our "heroien" (sp) is actually a "child" trapped in a "man's body" that has suddenly become "free" when he acts all weird and shit at the films climax.

That's just my weird ass, film school observation.. Other than that, it was pretty fucking weird.

Ichi definately displays a twisted sense of humor. I was actually disappointed by that at first, as I'd been told it was a bookend film for Miike's "Happiness of the Katakuris." So where one, despite its dark topcis, was very light and funny, the other was to be incredibly dark and disturbing. Two ends of the spectrum, as it were. I found very little in Ichi to be disturbing. Perhaps I'm just too jaded, but I was told it was suppoused to be the nastiest movie of all time, and it just wasn't. However, I did still like the movie.

If you want to experience cruel, nasty and just downright morally wrong try to get your hands on KEN PARK man, that movie was severly fucked up.

I'm not actually on the lookout for that, I just was told that Ichi was a wall to wall gorefest. It was pretty violent, but a lot of it was manga like violence (which makes sense). It played more like Story of Ricky to me than say The Streetfighter. I got nothing against Story of Ricky, but I don't put it on when I want to see Chiba seriously fuck people up.

I was told the same about Ichi, and found it to be more of a "mind fuck movie" than a gore fest. what do you guys think the goriest movie of all time would be? I think Dead-Alive's got my pick, ....seriously, the lawnmower scene is brutal...and funny.

Dead Alive is, for sheer quantity, the goriest.

The Violent Shit series (or any other Andreas Schnass movie) generally offer up a lot of inconsistent gore.

But in terms of insanely good FX, I'd say Day of the Dead. It's long, so doesn't seem like a bloodbath, but the climax is insane.

Oh, and a couple of volumes of the Guinea Pig series are pretty wild.

Dead Alive great movie. I like it a lot. There are more gorier movies that one, but yes that was one hell of a gory movie.

I'm going to have to go with Day of the Dead as well for goriest. The sheer weight of guts and blood and the fact that Romero pulled no punches with any of it is just astounding to me. Each scene of guts and gore is a static shot, and they're long. It's not like now where you catch a quick glimpse of gore and then the cam cuts to the reaction shot. Every gore shot is torturous and long so you know exactly what you're seeing... and the end is just unbelievable. When I first saw it at 13, I was speechless. I had a hard time sleeping that night as every time I closed my eyes I saw zombies dragging intestines around.

He Never Dies from the Guinea Pig series is also pretty nasty, but it's also really funny so it falls into the same category as Dead Alive.

I think Day of the Dead is a great pick. For pure unpleasantness, I can't think of anything else. I mean, the effects are great, nothing is hidden and there is no comedic relief to set you at ease. When the dvd came out I watched the movie, then again with the commentary and most of the extras and after awhile I just didn't want to see it anymore.

Though it's gore of a much different (ie, fantastic) kind, John Carpenter's "The Thing" still stands out to me as well.

Still haven't gotten around to watching Ichi. Did an uncut dvd ever come out?

Kakihara was one bad ass motherfucker. Ichi was a sick twisted indivisual, and thats what i loved about it. The rape scenes didnt affend me in any way. If you got offended by it, then maybe you should switch genres. This movie owned in every way. Enough said.

I think there's an uncut Region 0 out now.

There was an uncut RO chinese bootleg, but the subs didn't always stay on. So there were a few scenes, one which I think was key, that wasn't translated.

I believe there's an uncut R2 out there, and I think Media Blasters were releasing it in R1. Maybe it's out already, I'm not sure.
