I finally got around to watching this the other night, and I have to admit, I'm conflicted. On one hand, it took forever to get rolling with the monsters. It was a whole hour past the initial scene with G for him to come back into the picture. However, the martial arts scenes were enormously entertaining despite the fact that they were completely ridiculous. That fight scene on the motorcycles had me rolling on the floor. The ship designs were also cool as hell and that American guy was one of my favorite things about the movie.

All in all, very entertaining even if Minya was in it.

Since there are currently no English subtitled versions of this movie I bought the Region 6 PAL version which surprisingly features an 100 percent English-dubbed audio track. Video quality is on the VHS level and the audio is pretty bad but at 10 bucks shipped it will tide me over until I can get an English subbed version. If anyone's interested they can pick it up here, took almost a month for me to get the DVD after ordering it but it did arrive :)

Saw this fine film at SIFF on the big screen, and it rocked! Not sure how it would play while watching it alone, so gather some friends. Has Don Frye of Ultimate Fighting fame as the best American character (and perhaps ANY character) in a Godzilla movie ever, and the demise of the Americanized Godzilla that we all hate. Some of the story is weak, but who watches these for the story? As for this being the last Godzilla movie, I don't buy it. They'll probably take a break and try again in 5 or so years, or when they can do a proper Japanese CG Godzilla.

Was that who that guy was? He was seriously awesome. Completely ridiculous dialog and he's a terrible actor, but that was the most charming part of the movie.

You got that right Bro. I also like how he had that sword pose going on throughout the flick, which was the same pose from the front of the Versus poster. Same director, so it makes sense. He barely used the sword, which was kind of funny to me. I say Magnum PI 2006 should be his next role!

Overall... loved it!!

However, I didn't care too much for the pacing and this 2 hour film, felt like 3 to me. I thought there a few things that it could of done without... but Godzilla and all those monsters were AWESOME!! I felt like a kid all over again! Just slightly bummed that my favorite flying omlette was in it for all of 2 seconds :(
