The Convent = Comedy Gold

Post by Latte Thunder » Mon Jul 29, 2002 6:19 am

I've been hearing a lot about this one for a while so last night I got the chance to finally see it.

I was not disappointed in the least bit.

I'd heard that the movie had a lot of cheese to it, but what I didn't know was that it was intentional and that it was really funny. I want to see more from Mike Mendez. I've heard about his other feature, Real Killers but I doubt that I'll ever find a copy of it anywhere (and from what I hear, there's no such thing as an uncut copy anywhere).

The only complaint I have is that it was wayyyyy too short, ending only a little more than an hour (71 minutes, I think). The FX were funny, David Gunn (an actor I want to see more from) as Saul stole the show.

If you haven't seen it and you have an hour to kill, check it out. It's hilarious. More money in the hands of Mike Mendez could mean good things for the future of horror movies.

what a waste... save the humor for Scream movies. Toss this one on the compost heap along with Evil Dead 2, THERE I SAID IT.

I got a boot a long time ago and enjoyed it enough to buy the DVD when it was released. Sure, it was cheesy as hell but I thought it was a lot of fun.
