Ok, ok I'm sure most of the longtime members are well aware of how cool this movie is, but I finally got around to seeing it last week and thought I'd bring it up for some of the newbs. And Griff, if you still speak to Jason Driver, offer my apologies for not trusting his advice sooner. I believe he repeatedly suggested I watch this one way back when, but I was always scared off by the Troma label.

The plot is pretty simple. 3 old highschool girlfriends go out camping in the middle of the woods and are attacked by a crazy old lady and her two sons. Those these characters are so bizarre as to be comical, somehow they remain frightening and the films tension never wavers throughout. There wasn't a hell of a lot of gore (due mostly to a lack of funds for effects, I'm sure) but what it lacked in that department, it more than made up for in shocking brutality. And what time is allotted to character development is well spent as you really come to know the 3 girls before they are assaulted and really root for them as a result.

This is a movie that can proudly stand next to such films as Last House, The Hills Have Eyes, I Spit On Your Grave, etc... Check it out if you haven't already. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Yeah, Dylan, I still see old man Driver occassionally (I can't remember how the fuck he referred to himself around these parts - Wankenstein, maybe?). I'll pass it on.

Oh, and thanks for the reminder. I've bumped this one up my 'movies to revisit in the near future' list. I haven't seen it for fucking ages.
