I thought you guys might be interested in this. Whether or not Land of the Dead really gets made, apparently George has a zombie comic book due out next month. From the New England Comics Newsletter:

"Cult Movie writer/director George Romero helps kick off Toe Tags, a series of miniseries featuring the works of a number of creative luminaries from a variety of media!......Romero launches "Toe Tags" with an all-new horror classic for comics: the 6-part "The Death of Death", featuring blood-curdling art by Tommy Castillo. Overnight, the world has been turned upside-down, and zombies rule the day! It's up to a college professor named Hoffman, his assistant Damian Cross, and his gal Judy to figure out exactly how and why the undead have taken over. But even if they do get to the bottom of the plague, is it too late to save the world? On sale Oct. 20th. 32 pg, FC. Written by George Romero. Art by Tommy Castillo & Rodney Ramos. Cover by Bernie Wrightson. $2.95. For Mature Readers. "

Sweet, man. I was wondering when this was coming out. They're being really quiet about the other writers in the series, but I'd read that Tobe Hooper is supposed to be doing one as well, and maybe John Carpenter.

I finally picked this up over the weekend. It wasn't a very good start. Apparently the Damian Cross character is in fact a fully aware, thinking, feeling zombie. Seems more in line with the Return of the Living Dead 3 premise than anything like the old Romero stuff. I'm sure I'll stick with it though and see what happens. Oh well, at least "The Walking Dead' is a pretty good zombie comic.

Toe Tags is pretty good I think, different.

The walking dead is an exceptional book. I look forward to it monthly.

Look out for the 4th Dead movie, then. Its all about the 'awakening' of the zombies.
