I got an email about all of this this morning from some newsletter called Cultcuts that I can't remember signing up for.

I was going to post the info here because I know you're up that way, Chris, but it looks like you already know.

It would be god damn cool, too... If I were out in Seattle. Foiled again!

I lived in Seattle till about a year ago, and I have to say that even though it's about the size of a large walk-in closet, the Grande Illusion was home to some of my favorite cinematic experiences.

Anybody ever catch any of Dennis Nyback's themed series a couple of years back? He's a collector of rare cartoons and educational films, among other things. He had themes like 'Banned Bugs Bunny', 'Kill a Commie for Christ', 'Teen Trauma', and the unforgettable, 'The Mormon Church Explains It All to You'.

Anyone who lives up that way (this is a Seattle based board, right?) you owe it to yourself to check out the Grande Illusion if you haven't been. When I was in town last May, I went there to see 'Let My Puppets Come', and I don't think I'll ever be the same.

lol

I used to have an old porno trailer reel with Let My Puppets Come on it. It looked absolutely fucking hilarious. I think they were running it down in Boston last year.

I still have yet to see it, but I hear that it's pretty traumatic.

Latte Thunder- Mark from CultCuts will spam anyone.

I have issues with him, for printing an incomplete article I started to write, but never finished, because he could not make good on his promices. Hell,I was listed as being part of his staff, for the longest time, I haven't spoke with him in years!

Let My Puppets Come is great fun for the first time, but after that I recommend restricting viewings to bunches of drunk friends. The true beauty is that it's only 40 minutes long, so they don't have time to get too bored. I dread to THINK what a feature length one would have been like, though.

But it's got Luis de Jesus. Come on man, MIDGETS!

Terry,
I'm very dumbfounded by these events and slander. I have no clue what caused you to say the above statements. I've never ever said anything negative about you in the past or present, nor would I in the future. Issues? They've never been discussed with me!? If you had issues, you should have brought them to my attention where they WOULD have been rectified! I had no idea that you had issues or a problem with any article we used on the website!? If I had, that could have been fixed. I had you as part of the staff and wanted to continue, but when my emails never were answered I moved on. You disapeared on everyone. What article was incomplete? Your Monsters of Eurohorror was monickered with PART ONE of which I was hoping would become a long running series that never was finished because I never heard from you! Your Edwige Fenech article was a reader's favorite and was up for the longest time. What promises did I break? I have no clue what that was! What the hell?

I will spam anyone? I admit I'm zealous when it comes to promotion, its what I do for a living, but I do not go out of my way to spam unsuspecting people that would not be interested! Latte Thunder may have contacted me in the past or was just a cc'd copy email address that went through my program to my newsletter list. That happens from time to time and is unfortunate, but if they request to be removed, then I do so immediately! So in otherwords, the ONLY people that get put on my newsletter list are emails or addresses that come to MY EMAIL Box! I don't go out of my way to put anyone on my newsletters. I simply don't have that sort of time!

Hell, I'm just shocked over this whole statement. I've moved on and have wondered from time to time whatever happened to you. People email me and ask, people on alt.horror have asked, but I've had nothing but nice things to say about one Terry Luster. It's been years since we've spoken, but I never remember any issues or promises that didn't come through. If there are, please enlighten me and maybe it will jog my memory! As of now, I have no reason to believe that I did anything on my end to cause your statements on a public forum.

Foiled again eh? Believe me, the genre fans in Seattle know what you mean! I don't know how many times I hear about horror conventions all over the states, but never in Seattle! The most we have out here is Comic Book or Toy conventions set up by dealers and the occasional oddball non-movie convention. Most are in Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York, even Florida! All too far away.

Hey as for as the newsletter, if you don't wish to receive it, send me a message and I'll make sure to remove you from the list if you wish. My only guess is that someone sent me an email that had your email on it in the cc' or "To" part of the message. I have a program that automatically takes email addresses sent to my inbox. Great program as I don't have time to build one from scratch putting in emails one at a time! But once in awhile, it happens to pick up an email from someone who doesn't want to be on the list.

Cheers,

Mark,

Since you can't remember a fucking thing that happened, years ago, let me fresh your dim memory.

FACT- I was asked to write for your *magazine*, a real publication, not some damn web-site.

FACT- You falsely hyped this magazine (that never happened), and claimed you were going to have TV advertisement.

FACT- My first and only article that I aurothized you to print, had to be completely re-typed and resent to you, nearly a goddamn year after I wrote the fucking thing, because your kid trashed your computer.

(for the record, I sent the Edwige acticle to two other magazines, that printed it, and one of them actually paid me!)

FACT- The other article I started was incomplete and sent to MICHAEL, who shortly after, quit your fucked up operation, hence making it a dead issue. Now a few years later, my incomplete piece shows up on your web-site, without you ever contacting me.
HOW DARE YOU ACT ALL OFFENDED!!!!! YOU USED ME!!!!

In short, you are a hypocrite.
Now go ahead make another long winded reply, that I won't bother to read, because I'm not all that interested in hearing you trying to bullshit your way out this.

Terry,
Whether you read this or not, I think I should make a few things clear. I'm not here to aggravate, but to discuss an obvious problem that I was not aware of for several years, but only to hear about it now. This is to rectify any misunderstanding, not to make any kind of fool out of you or me or anyone else.
FACT: Yes, you were asked to write for CULTCUTS MAGAZINE. Yes, it turned into a webzine. Sorry, apologies went to everyone including you and believe me, it hurt me more than anyone else. The funds fell through. Do we hate ETC Magazine, Shocking Images, Deep Red when they went under (glad they are back!)? I don't think so and believe me, it happens more than not! We got two issues before we folded. Not a good run, lots of scrapes and bruises plus a financial loss for myself. Not you, but me. It was the chance I took, the risk and we didn't make it as a magazine at the start. We are back and running strong regardless if you are angry that we shut down.

FACT: Yes, we had a TV advertisement in the works (The Horror Channel and we are still linked on their site) and we hyped the magazine (wouldn't anyone else if they planned on releasing a magazine). Things fell apart, good intentions were there and that isn't enough. We gave it a good fight and we learned things the hard way.

FACT: Yes, we did have a serious computer crash and we asked you to rewrite the article with our sincerest apologies! You can't truly be harboring ill feelings all these years because of a simple fuck up like that. Stupid of us to not have your article on back up? HELL YES! And we fully admitted it was our fault and an error on our part! Why in hell, would that be an issue now? Believe me, we keep duplicate copies of everything because as we all know, computers crash, get viruses, etc. It happens, it sucks and I apologized for it ages ago.

COOL about your Edwige Fenech article getting published. If you would have told me as such, I would have taken it down in respect for the published magazine. As such, I had no idea. Again, without communication, how was I to know? Your emails back then bounced back. You disapeared off of alt.horror and when I did email you, I never got replies!

FACT: None of your articles are on the website and have not been there for some time. I just now put it up? I think you have your timelines messed up my friend. Did I know it was not a finished piece? No, I did not. I got it saying, PART ONE. I waited for part 2 and 3 and 4 and it would have been great to make it an ongoing piece. It did not, again due to no contact, which I tried. Michael, who had the piece, sent it to me before he left. His job was to edit, not to own. If a bank teller quits his job, does he get to take the money with him? No, Mike was the European Horror Editor, not the owner of the article. Why was it a dead issue because he quite? I used the article because it was written for CULTCUTS. If you had told me you didn't want it on a website, I would have been cool with that completely and respected that. Mike wrote a few pieces for the webzine before he left and even then, he didn't tell me to take them down. His reviews are still there because he had no problem with that. THEY WERE WRITTEN FOR CULTCUTS! How the hell was I supposed to know it wasn't finished. I was not told. I had it as a Part one and it was fully edited for errors!

I'm not trying to bullshit my way out of this at all. I have no quarrel with you, but there definitely is some sort of pent up anger from you towards me and it is very perplexing. Your articles went up right after the magazine folded to make the best of what we had to work with. Had I known it would piss you off, I wouldn't have done so.

Did you ever mention any of this to me...EVER?!? I think not and you had plenty of oppurtunity to do so. I emailed...got no response. I emailed and they bounced back. You emailed me and I invited you to join the private alt.horror email list A YEAR AFTER YOUR ARTICLES HAD BEEN UP!!!! You said nothing, but were happy to join the list and say hi to some old friends. You did so and then disapeared after about a week. I figured that was the last we would hear from you. The Webzine grew, the magazine is back and I've worked very hard at it (WITHOUT SPAMMING) and by being very courteous to readers and people within the industry. I do this to "share the warmth", not to rip people off. We all love the horror genre and that is what I do, promote it. I'm not going to quarrel with you because the magazine folded and it hurt you in some way. SHIT, If fucking hurts big time on my end when the dream fell. So I worked hard to get it back, without using anyone to my knowledge and now it's back and a bunch of us are very proud of the hard work we put into it. Nothing can take that away, not even your anger, which I still think is misplaced due to your lack of communication. Who knows, maybe if you weren't a stranger and actually replied to that last email when you asked to be taken off my newsletter list, none of this would be happening and you would understand another side to a coin.

LOL! It was originally about CULTCUTS presenting a string of Mario Bava films at the Grand Illusion Theater here in Seattle.

Personally, I would like to apologize for the arguement that proceded afterwards. Whatever got really under Terry's skin should have been handled via email between him and myself. Since he brought it to my attention publically, it ended up here on the boards for all to see. Oh well, I work with what I'm dealt and that's that.

If you are in Seattle, come check out the Bava films followed by our Werewolf series featuring DOG SOLDIERS, AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON and GINGER SNAPS! We'll be handing out prizes and having fun!

Mark,

Didn't I predict another long winded post from you?

Printing an incomplete article SEVERAL FUCKING YEARS after I broke off contact with you, is dishonest, and you NEVER HAD A CONTRACT WITH ME!

Sorry, folks, but this whiney male bitch simply refuses to admit he's wrong.

Never said anything about a contract. And I never printed any article after several "Fucking" years of broken contact. Your article was up on the website right after we dropped the first magazine and went Webzine. We still were speaking then and we spoke after that. I have no clue what you are talking about. There is no article in print nor are any of your articles on the website that I know of and haven't been for a long long time which means that you are very confused as we've only been a Webzine for about two years total. And simply resorting to name calling and anger makes you look a little obsessed. With what I have no idea.

Terry,
Please if you wish to continue this discussion, let's do so by email or private message. I have no wish to clutter up Chris' forum with my long rants or your name calling. If that's cool with you, fine. If not, well, I have no wish to deal with you any longer in this way. I've stated how I felt, tried to be cool about it and even tried to rectify the problem. If you want me to take fault for the magazine folding two years ago, fine I do and always have. Feel better?
Shit.

Y'all can start a thread in The Abyss if you want to keep it public :) If you do I'll try to move the non-relevant posts there.

Hey everyone!
Just a quick thanks to everyone that showed up this last Friday for the opening night of Mario Bava's Funhouse Film Series! For those that didn't make it, we gave out prizes, showed off the magazine and generally had a lot of fun watching BLACK SUNDAY and BLACK SABBATH! For those that missed any of this last weekend's shows, both films play throughout this week at the GRAND ILLUSION until thursday. Friday, September 27th, we'll be back at the theater to start Mario Bava's THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH at 7:00 and 11:00 pm and KILL, BABY, KILL at 9:00 pm. Show up Friday for fun and prizes! Part of the CULTCUTS MAGAZINE staff will be present each and every friday, but don't let that stop you from seeing it every night!
