It was a warm June night...
The air was thick with the smell of patchouli oil and clove cigarettes. Shorts worn with Chucks or Docs paired with black socks were all the rage. As were beer bellies covered in their best fanboy shirt...
The nerd alert for the Sacramento area last night was elevated to red as Bruce Campbell came from his book signing to present his Sci-Fi channel film The Man With the Screaming Brain, and then do a Q & A afterwards...
The film itself? Meh... if it wasn't Bruce Campbell, there's really no reason to watch it...

"Man With The Screaming Brain" was originally planned as a Fangoria Film production(along with those three lousy films they made back in 1990,as well as a planned but eventually unfilmed Steve James vehicle called "Brooklyn Mummy"),but the failure of their three films forced Fango to dump those projects(and now pick up various foreign genre entries for distribution onto U.S. DVD,with their vow to return to producing with the planned Frank "Basket Case" Hennenlotter comeback vehicle "Sick In The Head").
Otherwise, since the Sci-Fi Channel picked up Bruce's dusty old script(and wiped the dust off from it) and payed the production bill,I'm not surprised at reading that it's just another slice of ordinary Sci-Fi Channel slop, despite Bruce's presence in front of,and behind the camera(as well as the script).
