If you were having friends over to watch scary stuff, what 5 would you pick? In the spirit of The All Freakin Night program at The Olympia Film Festival here is Washington state, where they run 5 scary flicks in a row starting at Midnight, I will be doing a home version. I would pick:

Night Of The Living Dead- A classic that still delivers
Re-Animator
The Devil's Rain- Pure cheese, but I love it
Evil Dead
Don't Look In The Basement- 70's Southern Sleaze

Allright. Good topic dude!

I'd go for standards mostly.....

Halloween 1
Halloween 6
Friday the 13th part 4
Something Wicked this Way Comes
And a really bad kids movie called the Worst Witch. I don't know why, but I like it.

My usual includes several staples:

The Black Cat (Karloff and Lugosi)
Island of Lost Souls (we need a DVD of this)
Frankenstein

and one or two others. I think this year will get:
Twisted Brain (70's cheese fest on shitty bootleg VHS)
Aftermath/Genesis special edition

I love the old school stuff, this time of year especially. First off, "The Old Dark House" (1932). I first saw this on a Halloween all nighter on AMC (back when AMC was cool and showed actual "classics") and loved it. This one is a staple for me pretty much every year. As much as I bitch and moan about the local theatre playing "Evil Dead 2" every year, it is a classic. I just wish they'd show something else (though it looks like they're in danger of going under, but I digress). Regardless of which film you watch, the lineup is gonna need some zombies. And flying saucers. Sure, that's sci-fi, but somehow Halloween needs some flying saucer action, imo. Through in a good old fashioned ghost story and I'm all set. I'll probably change the lineup later, but if Halloween were tonight:

1) The Old Dark House
2) Night Of The Living Dead
3) War Of The Worlds
4) Re-Animator
5) Evil Dead 2

I don't know where I'll be on Halloween.

If I'm home, chances are the TV will get a workout. Especially during the times trick or treaters are stopping by.

I may play a few from this list;

2,000 Maniacs
Psycho (1960)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Basket Case
Gates of Hell
I Drink your Blood
I Spit on Your Grave
Maniac

fav halloween flicks

Nosferatu- great original silent horror hit

Halloween- no explanation needed

Halloween 2-strong follow up with some nice kills, the franchise could have been ended with this one.

Evil Dead-classic scares and gore all in one

Texas Chainsaw Massacre-terror, terror, terror. Nonstop and intense!

Night Of The Living Dead (original)-man, this thing gets better and better with repeated viewings, "they're coming to get you barbara!"

Hills Have Eyes-those mountains are sinister enough, let alone the family of inbreds!

When A Stranger Calls-the opening sequence is one of my all time favourites scenes in horror history.

Friday The 13th uncut-spear kevin bacon in the fuck'in throat. nice and cheesy,

bout all I can think of at the moment.

I think this year I'm going with:

The Blood of Dracula
The Fog
City of the Living Dead
The Exorcist
Ghost Watch

I've never seen Ghost Watch before but I've heard that it's this really spooky hoax that the BBC put on in the early 90's that had a War of the Worlds effect on a lot of people in the UK when it aired. My assumption, based on that is that it is actually quite cheesy and hardly convincing but I'm going to give it a shot.

Ha! Funny you should say that. I actually ended up watching Wild Zero the night of my last post in this thread. Zombies AND UFOs...two birds with one stone.
