Question about Sixth Sense's ending

Maybe this is more Beaten Track, but, oh, well...

I've always hated the Sixth Sense because...well, I found it boring, but one of the big things I hated was that the ending didn't make sense to me. I couldn't figure out why the boy wasn't afraid of Bruce Willis. I was talking about this, and a friend said that M. Night. Shamalamadingdong actually adressed this issue in either the commentary or an interview on the DVD, but couldn't remember the answer. DOes anybody know what the excuse given was? Thanks.
