I just read on some other forum that Cannibal Holocaust is due for release in a few months. While it's been "coming soon" for a LOOOOONG time, this is the first time I've heard anything resembling and estimated time. The site is down, so has anyone heard anything?

Don't get excited just yet, Hodgy...

Fucking Grindhouse (who have the rights) have taken a notoriously long time for ths release. It's been "coming soon" for a long time...like before it screened in Seattle, even.

Yay for Grindhouse.. but I'll believe this when I see it with my own eyes.

I'm pretty sure that it'll be a great disc when it does come out, though.

I've been waiting for this one for a while. I sure this is it and that it's finally coming out.

Anyone have any info. on why it's been delayed.

I really want the DVD to replace my old bootleg print.

Originally, I thought the project went on hold for a while because one of the Grindhouse guys had to do post on Spiderman.

Yep, and now Bob is about to start work on Spiderman 2, so don't get your hopes up too high for anything from Grindhouse anytime soon. Although last time I spoke to him he promised Cannibal Holocaust and I Drink Your Blood would be out this year-shawn

To hell with grindhouse. I got myself a copy of Cannibal Holocaust at xploitedcinema and its NTSC region 0. It's anamorphic, uncut, looks great and I'm happy. Put out by EC Entertainment. Just a heads up for those who live for today.

The Grindhouse print is longer, and I've heard there are some trims to that disc's print even from the standard uncut editions. I haven't actually seen it, so can't compare...

hmm. I wonder what was cut. I've never seen the film before but I can't imagine any violence was cut. It'll be interesting to see.

Actually here is some news. Bob from Grindhouse actually got a hold of the once rumored piranha scene. Up till now the piranha scene has only been seen in stills, now for the first time you'll see it in the film...this alone would be worth their disc. Not to mention the remastered sound, the thousands they are spending on cleaning up the print, and the audio commentary. When their disc eventually does come out it will make the EC disc look like complete shit. As an example, just compare EC's Beyond DVD with the Beyond DVD Grindhouse released under Anchor Bay. There is no comparison. People that can't wait and buy the EC Cannibal Holocaust disc will only end up buying the GrindHouse disc when it comes out...

My god, the infamous piranha scene, for real? Its... its.. its unfathomable!

I'm not that big a CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST fan (though I have bootleg of the EC disc my brother's girlfriend cluelessly bought in some shitty Asian country cos she thought it looked fun but changed her mind when I told her about some choice scenes). But if Grindhouse do a BEYOND on it, I might just be persuaded to sneak a copy past Aussie customs.

I guess I'm putting my copy up for sale then. Sounds like it's gonna be one hell of a release.

Wow, the pirahna scene! I guess I'll continue to hold onto my old Cult Epics laserdisc until that comes out.

On a related note a local video store (Scarecrow) has (or had) a Greek SECAM tape that contains the scene, at least according to the typed store notes on the box. Since I don't have anything to convert VHS I can't confirm that though :)

I don't recall the piranha scene being in there, but when I saw that tape, it was being heavily fastforwarded to avoid seeing animal slaughter.
