More of that good stuff that made the first one so great. The career mode presentation is better, the multiplayer is way better, and they made doing hammer ons and pull offs way, way easier.

Everyone who is into music and owns a PS2 should buy this game.

Oh, I will be getting the 360 version, no doubt about that, but I couldn't deny myself the pleasure of having the game now. The 360 version isn't gonna come out til next spring. But ooooh, downloadable songs...hell yeah!!!

One of them is. It's the song Thunderhorse and it's incredibly difficult.

Unlike the last one, the unlockables are songs I really want to play. The big challenge this time around is getting Expert 5 stars on that Buckethead track Jordan.

Another interesting addition to the unlockables in Trogdor.

I'm also holding out for the 360 version. It's going to be a long couple of months but it'll be worth it. The Explorer controller is much cooler (a friend of mine is going to paint mine glossy black and airbrush this on my guitar). It'll be worth it, though. I think it would be the shit if they offered the original game's set list on the marketplace. I'd shell out 1200 points for that in a heartbeat.

If they released monthly updates of five or six songs, I'd also have no problem dropping 800 points on that.

I got one for Christmas too!!! It's so much damn fun! :D

It is kinda weird the way you hit some of the notes, in comparison to the way the songs are really played on the guitar. I think it was fishybaby at Hodgy's party that told me that it can kind of fuck up your guitar playing.

Me and my kid Sara have been jammin on it upstairs while Tipton is downstairs hooked on the XBOX 360. We got him the new Sonic the Hedghog game and the Rainbow Six Vegas. Pretty amazing graphics on the big screen.

Some details are starting to come down about the 360's release.

Depending on where you read, there's a huge disparity between release dates. Harmonix is expected to make some official release date to coincide with the Consumer Electronics Show which is happening right now. The release is either in March or July. Obviously, the sooner the better.

Also, expect downloadable content on launch day. The rumors have been flying for since the announcement of the 360 release that the first wave of downloadable songs with either be pieces of, or the entire set list from the first game, which is fine by me.

The 360 is also getting some exlcusive tracks. Ten of them to be exact, right now, eight of them are known. 360 Guitar Hero fans are adamant that one of the two unknowns is a Dragonforce track. Nothing official on that front. What new tracks are known are:

Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
Rick Derringer - Rock and Roll Hoochiekoo
Rancid - Salvation
The Toadies - Possum Kingdom
My Chemical Romance - Dead!
Pearl Jam - Life Wasted
Deep Purple - Hush
Iron Maiden - The Trooper

The fucking Trooper! Just thinking about that opening lead makes my hands hurt. But it's about god damn time Maiden got in on this. Also, the rythm and bass line from Billion Dollar Babies will make it well worth your while to buy a second controller if the Rush track hadn't already. I'm not a big fan of My Chemical Romance but I have heard that track and I think it ought to be a lot of fun. It's got great leads and a good solo that ought to be a lot of fun to play.

Can't wait.

Hell yeah!!!

Sorry to necropost... I'm thinking of getting this game for my bro for his b-day on Friday. We have a PS2.

I pretty much know nothing about this game other than everyone who I've known that's played it says it's the most awesome game.

1. What songs are on it?
2. Should I buy GH1 first, so that we can work up to GH2 and actually know what we're doing, or would it be fine to buy GH2 first?
3. Does it come with a guitar controller or do I have to buy that separately?

Thanks.

Guitar hero is a good game? It looked kinda lame. I'll guess that should try it out.

A friend of mine bought a Flying V body and stripped out the neck and body for the hardware. The button spacing on the neck is fucked, though. Since we don't have the game yet, it's just this corpse of a guitar waiting for parts. I don' think it will work out well, but he gets an A for effort.

I played the 360 demo at Best Buy yesterday when I was trolling for stores that broke street date (a total failure). The new version is head and shoulders above the PS2 game. It looks very nice and the characters have a lot of added detail to them. The demo units, from what I've been hearing and experienced first-hand, had a considerable amount of lag but a friend of mine, whose word I trust very much, assures me that the production units don't have this problem.

I guess if you buy this from Circuit City on tuesday, you get a free 1600 point card for the marketplace. I'm all over that.

Speaking of the marketplace: While the same friend that I trust gave me good, public domain info about the controller, I think he dropped some bullshit on me to preserve his non-disclosure agreement and get me to stop asking questions. He says there is no DLC planned as far as he knows but the IGN review I read today says that Higher Ground, Stellar and Bark at the Moon are in the first wave of DLC that should launch next week, which backs up my suspicion that some or all of the first game set list is going to be available on the marketplace, which warms my heart.

Same friend also told me that he recently went to Harmonix on a visit and saw the reason they farmed out further GH development to Neversoft. He has seen, laid hands on and played a build of what they're developing. While he wouldn't tell me anything about it (again, NDA), he says that come December, Guitar Hero will be a thing of the past. I did some googling and found a post that said that Harmonix/Red Octane/Activision recently registered the domain rockbandgame.com - Use your imagination. If you wanted to evolve what is probably the finest rhythm game of all time, what's the next evolutionary step?

Finally, here's the strangest PS2 hack video I've ever seen. Anyone have any info on how this game charted his own custom song?
