Latest buys

Post by Latte Thunder »

It's been a little while since we've had one of these threads, so I think the time is nigh.

What have you gotten lately?

Suburbia - great punk rock movie. It's been years since I've seen it. Found it used at my part time job, paid $3 for it. What a bargain!

Dawn of the Mummy - Also got this used from the record store for dirt cheap. You'd think that by that time, Italians should know that a fashion photo shoot always results in carnage.

Bubba Hotep - Gotta love that record store. Cost me nothing and I loved it.

Wild Zero - Finally got the Synapse disc of this. It's cool that it has extras for a foreign movie. Haven't gotten around to playing the drinking game yet. My friends all think I'm nuts for liking that movie.

The Exterminator - I've been dying to see this since the first time I saw it on TV back in the 80's. Finally found a so call directors cut, for whatever that's worth. Haven't actually received it in the mail yet, but it came from Ebay. If only they'd put the sequel on DVD now.

I remember THE EXTERMINATOR and THE EXTERMINATOR 2 getting a release both at the same time on DVD, might be wrong on this but I'll double check. This was one of the great early CANNON movies. Had no point to it what-so-ever. Just pure stupidity. I remember my father renting this when I was around 10 or 11 and sitting down to watch it with him. Now wonder why I'm so fucked up.

I'd love to get my hands on Night of the Creeps. I used to have a VHS boot, but I've since cleaned myself out of them all. I only have a couple of my most cherished tapes still around.

Also, does the extended cut do anything for Halloween 6? Everyone on horrormovies.com used to rave about it, how it was awesome and all that. But then again, I am talking about the horrormovies.com forums. And you know how they were.

The Eye 2... Eh, not as good as the first one. Couple of parts I liked about it but otherwise... eh.

Uzumaki... Started watching it... but it was late and there was alot going on so I'll get around to watching it later on this week. So far so good... some interesting visuals to it.

I haven't watched the Halloween 6 DVD all the way thru yet. You can obviously tell the "cut" scenes because they are not the greatest quality and they are edited into the movie.

Just got my Exterminator disc in the mail. I haven't seen this since around 1984 and a lot of scenes were still fresh in my mind. I don't know if there's an R1 of the disc, but the one I bought turned out to be a Danish R2 disc. It's still as cool as I remember it being and has some seriously cool kill scenes. The opening sports the best decapitation I've ever seen. It's seriously gruesome.

Gave in and did a pre-order on the double disc Zombi 2 release. I had read on another forum that both companies releasing the film were given the orginal prints to work with in order to sort through the legal stuff. So there shouldn't be an excuse for a poor transfer. I had also read a Blue Underground review which said it was excellant, like nothing they've ever seen on DVD before.

Also got SOUTH PARK SEASON 4, don't want to fall behind.

Sold my Galactica boxed set and Trigun 3-disc and had enough credit at my store to pick up:

Predator (2-disc)
Ichi The Killer (uncut Tokyo Shock)
Bad Taste (also uncut)

Watched the Predator disc and loved it. Great presentation, nice extras. It's almost exactly like the Xmen 1.5 disc that came out a while back.

Haven't felt the need to watch Ichi, it's just something I wanted to own. Bad Taste I haven't seen in forever, though. I'll get around to that one tonight sometime after Collateral.

Now GET TO THA CHOPPAH!!

I used to have a VHS of Naked Blood. Very heavy movie. One of those Japanese flicks I wished I hadn't seen.
