Death Tunnel, The Butcher, and the Nun

Haven't seen any mention of these three ones I've watched recently.

The Nun. Brian Yuzna's got his name on this one, but I wouldn't be going around bragging about it if I were him. Totally lame "ghost" story that sucked even before the inevitable twist at the end. Not even a new twist at that. I'm supposed to be scared by a CGi flying nun??!? Insert your Sally Field jokes here.

Death Tunnel. Been seeing torrents for this for quite awhile and finally decided to give it a look. There's some good lookin' girls in this movie, but that is it. It tried desperately to be scary with all the same tricks you've all seen a million times (you'll see them a million more times in this movie alone, fast editing, loud noises, fast editing, loud noises, repeat ad nauseum), but falls flat on it's face. I'd say it's just like "Boo!" only not as good. If I remember right, Boo! at least had a sense of humor. This one takes itself very seriously.

The Butcher. Another On Demand viewing, I was actually pleasantly surprised by this. Not that it's especially good mind you, but it is a decent time killer with it's heart in the right place. It really gets into it quick, has a bit of a lull in the middle and has a well paced, if not very original ending. Best part was right in the beginning where (and this is a minor spoiler, but believe me, it won't make much difference....)...a girl is introduced, makes out with another girl, flashes her titties and then gets promptly ripped in half! All in the first few minutes or so! I'll always have a soft spot for any movie that starts off like that. :)

Haven't seen The Nun or The Butcher, but Death Tunnle yeah not so good I just couldn't follow it....I mean I give every movie the benifit of the doubt still slow moving plot and poorly put together

I was wondering about Death Tunnel, but I figured as much.

I watched a really cool documentry about the hauntings at The Waverly Hills Sanitarium in Louisville, KY. a while back. Since I haven't seen the movie, I don't know what they included about the location (filmed at Waverly) but the 500' Death Tunnel was how they transported the thousands of TB corpses out of the facility. Hence the name.

The Waverly Hills Sanitarium opened in 1926. It was built at a cost of 1 million dollars at that time. Tuberculosis was rampant around the Louisville area, and it was also described as swampy at that time. The death rate was very high for the people that contracted tuberculosis. The hospital was known for its “state of the art” treatment, which was still experimental and barbaric for that time. Ultraviolet light was used to alleviate the disease. Many different procedures and experiments were conducted. The hospital features a large, 5-story building with many patient rooms, nurse stations, and bathroom facilities. The building closed in 1961, and then reopened in 1962 as a geriatric hospital and nursing home. It was then called Woodhaven Geriatrics Sanitarium. Many stories circulated that the patients suffered mistreatment and horrible conditions. Woodhaven was closed in 1982 because of alleged abuse to patients. The building was sold to several different owners over the next 18 years. One owner wanted to tear it down, but was stopped because it was on the National Historic Register list. An owner then decided to let it decay. Vandals, thieves, homeless people and teenagers took it over. Rumors of satanic rituals, drug and alcohol parties, and homeless people living within its walls continued. Most of the marble was stripped away, as well as all of the toilets, sinks, radiators, and glass windows. Rumors began that the hospital was haunted. Stories of phantom children, rooms lighting up with no power to the building, doors slamming, voices, and even ghost hearses dropping off coffins were told. Especially eerie was the story of an apparition of a woman bleeding from her wrists, with chains on her, running from the building and screaming.
