Gummo, the worst movie ever????

Post by LIVE FO RETSINIM » Sun Aug 17, 2003 2:06 pm

It may not be "the absolute" worst movie but it is definitely one of them. OMG where do I start. Who the hell wants to watch 95 minutes of fuckin' retards and inbred queers? Every member of that cast should be destroyed, along with everyone who worked on it. I heard mixed reviews of this movie, like it was "trippy" or disturbing or the kind of movie that sticks with you, you know. I was expecting an ending like "Kids", or the like, or any type of ending at all, but no, no such luck. It was another one of those movies that tried WAY too hard to be "out there", like Lynch's crappers. The only half way decent thing was it had a few good actual metal songs on the soundtrack.

You liked Kids? I thought that was one of the most worthless movies of all time. Isn't that the one that ends where you think the dude contracts AIDS? And guys actually only have something like a 1 in 16 chance of catching an STD?

Gummo sucks its doesnt matter what anybody can say about it, that movie was a waste of time for who made it and for me ...

And believe me im not clueless, this movie is a big mistake it should be destroyed like Jody says with all those people...

And the worse...

There's a lot of people like that around this country.... but thats not a movie... what a sick life

Ohhhh!! Great rebuttal!! Wow your genius argument really changed my thinking around. I will have to watch it again after you explained how “amazing” it is. Yeah I got the social commentary, an outlook on the human race, oh how deep, man. I am sure you are a big fan of “Face off” “Speed” and “Titanic” so this movie was totally breath taking for you.

As far as “Kids” no, I didn’t really like it that much, but there are about 5 or 6 parts in it that I can picture right now, and I have only seen it once, and that was at least six years ago.

If we didn't have great twisted trash like Gummo being made, we'd be stuck with nothing but shitty movies like Face Off, Titanic, and SPEED.

I would think metalheads would like Gummo the most. What other movie is going to have a completely metal soundtrack, and furthermore play it to images of scuzzy metal kids whipping dead cats hung from trees?

I'll give you a hint: IT'S NOT FACE OFF.

You think Gummo is bad? Try watching the new lame ass rip-off SPUN. Now that's a BAD movie. A movie that tries so hard to be cool and sick at the same time it just falls over flat in it's own bullshit. Gummo doesn't have to try that hard and look that fake or stylish, it is fucking SICK.

Not a fan of exploitation movies, eh? You'll like it in ten years when it's praised as some great cult classic.
Let's ask him, what's the deal?

I didnt really "like" gummo either but it wasnt the worst movie ever. I would compare it more to John Waters then David Lynch.

Vampires 2 :los muertos was the worst movie ever.

No, the worst movie of all time (that's not shot on video, those things don't count) is Model Killer. The runner up is Night of Horror. End of story.

I thought "Erotic Nights of the Living Dead" was worse than "Model Killer". "Gore-Met, Zombie Chef from Hell" was right up there as well.

I thought "Gummo" was pretty fucking entertaining...

I thought Erotic NIghts was awful, too, but it didn't have the fucking voice over crap that Model Killer does.

Nadja? huh. he was the executive producer, he didnt make or direct the film. I dont think they have creative control.

Well whatever!!!! I rented it, It said David Lynch on it, I watched about 45 minutes and turned it off. He put his name on it so he somehow supported, and funded it, so it could get from that dank crack house apartment that it was filmed in, all the way to my Television set. It is like when I say Troma, Lloyd Kaufman did not write and direct all of the movies that they release, but they are pushing a product, and they put their name on it.

I do think Twin Peaks the series and the movie ruled, and we have talked about that before, it just makes me all "misty eyed" when I think about that conversation.

David Lynch is a fucking champ...everything he does is golden (almost everything....remember wild at heart? ugh....), but not everyone is going to like him. His fucking visuals and scene settings are what do it for me...not to mention the dialogue (or lack of at times).

As far as Gummo is concerned, I think it's an excellent movie. The world is full of cretinous rodents, and I love to see them front and center on the big screen. I remember seeing that bitch at the grand illusion when it came out (back in my drinking days) and being the only person in the entire room laughing my ass off.

Kids on the other hand was a complete piece of trash. The moment I hear ebonics coming out of a white kid's mouth I either walk away, take a swing or (if it's a movie) click 'eject'. Aside from that, it was like watching an episode of jackass without the fucking comedy. Pointless as all hell...and the whole 'sending a message' bit insults my intelligence. Korine didn't direct that film...I'm actually unsure of his role in it was to be honest.

Anyone interested in Harmony Korine should check out a book he wrote entitled 'A Crackup at the Race Riots'.

Korine wrote Kids, Larry Clark (the guy who did Bully and Teenage Caveman) directed it. They're teaming up again for Ken Park which is coming out somewhat soon I think, and should be pretty sick.

But I agree, KIDS isn't very good. watching it again now, it makes no sense to me that anyone could have thought it was real, because the acting is fucking HORRIBLE! I couldn't get past that the last time I watched it. It's terrible. Clark's other movies are pretty good though, except for teenage caveman(sorry Dave).

Julien Donkey Boy (Korine's other movie) is pretty funny, but it's nowhere near as good as Gummo.

His book was ok... pretty much just Gummo in book form...
Let's ask him, what's the deal?
