Movies

Post by TheZoo »

Hi, my name is lila moss. I am a movieholic

Ever since i was a kid.

Now that there is a thing called Netflix, Holy Shit.

So I am going to post about movies i see that I think are worth watching.

Bored? why yes i am, thank you.

Please feel free to play along. I like to hear about other movies also.

Cold Creek Manor
2/5
It was mediocre. Stephen Dorff is a good bad guy. There was nothing about this movie that hasnt been done before. Psycho guy loses house. rich family buys house. psycho guy goes well mildly psycho. tries to get house. ends up being even more psycho then I thought. family wins (of course) and Juliet Lewis plays white trash like no one else.

In the Cut
4/5
I really liked the directing of this movie and the visuals. It was a little shocking to see penis in mouth action and meg ryan naked but whatever. It had a great story, a good twist and the acting was fantastic. That was my favorite Meg Ryan role thus far.
It was a crime thriller to the max and a little bit of a love story.
If you can get over the penis shot and will be ok with a naked meg. It really is a good movie.

Amelie
4/5
A French film. If you dont like foreign films, thats the killer right there. Amelie is a very cute film about a miscehvious girl trying to make small changes in the world for her own amusement. It is a good lighthearted feel good move.
Again, great directing and imaging. Great story, great acting. I thought this is up there with Big Fish in the sentimental elements. This movie stuck with me for awhile.

Secondhand lions- I was a little apprehensive about this because Haley Joel Osment is getting kind of creepy in his awkward years.

However this movie was very very good. I watched it twice in the same day. It was kind of like big fish. Just a good wholesome story about believing in what you want to believe in.

Robert Duval and Michael Caine are 2 retired uncles suspected of having millions of dollars stashed away from wild adventures and Haley Joel Osment gets abandoned by his mother and they end of raising him.

Sounds silly but it was very clever and well worth it.

I saw "Solaris" recently. George Clooney's character, a widower, gets called to travel to a space station called Solaris where weird stuff is happening, and he ends up reuniting (sort of) with his late wife. Small cast, very anti-climactic, but pretty interesting. Not a great movie but it was free on cable.
I have to return some videotapes.

Tried to watch 21 grams last night.

The cast is great, Naomi Watts, Sean Penn and Benecio, I am rarely disappointed with any performance by them.

I watched about 10 minutes of this depressing copy cat of Traffic

and turned it off.

If anyone can give me a good reason to sit through this I might considering giving it another shot.

other wise i saw traffic once already.

I hate movies.

But I did watch Comic Book: The Movie's bonus disc yesterday, and that had a cool interview panel with a bunch of great voice over actors.

Gothika- 2.5/5
Typical who dunnit. Kind of jumpy in some parts. Has the whole role reversal. Halle Berry is a psychiatrist, she doesnt understand the crazy people because she is too clinical.

She becomes possessed, does something bad, doesnt remember wakes up in hospital. She is now crazy.

Now starts who dunnit and why is this scary blond ghost kicking everyones ass. Good twist in the end but fairly uneventful!

Curdled- 3.5/5 - exective producer was Quentin Tarantino , which i believe means he put up cash for it. It was a band apart release.
Story about a women obsessed with serial killers and crime scenes. Goes to work for a forensic clean up company. Ends up running into the talk about town serial killer. Funness ensues.

Fun movie, has a baldwin in it so dont expect fabulous acting.

I think the main character (Angela Jones) was esmerelda villalobos the taxi driver in Pulp Fiction, another character obsessed with death. Daisy Fuentes has a small part.

Kelly Preston has the role of the reporter, just like she did in From Dusk til Dawn

Angela Jones stared in a short film with the same plot as Curdled. Tarantino saw it and loved it, and based Pulp Fiction's Esmerelda character on it. He then put up the $ for the full length Curdled.

I expected more from it than I got...

I spent an entire day this week sick, laying on the couch watching movies all day.
"Jeepers Creepers 2" was pretty decent, I liked the first one, and the sequel has some pretty cool stuff but the ending is dumb.
"Star Trek: Nemesis" was great, I enjoyed it a lot, but I'm sad that there will be no more Next Gen movies.
"House of 1000 Corpses" is one of the most worthless movies I've ever seen. It's a lame attempt to rip off the Texas Chainsaw Massacre but fails miserably because Rob Zombie shot it like it was a music video, and he forgot to include a plot. If I ever see him I'm going to demand my 90 minutes back.
I have to return some videotapes.
